RE: I need help with my char creation
Hmm... well. True. You don't really need to always wear the shades. This is a warning for all you people out there: Don't drink and post. It affects your Int and Perception by -2 each, and some of us need those 2 points a LOT. =)
Ok.. I'll give you the "NPCs can carry equipment" thing, but that doesn't really help me. Right now, I'm a lvl 17 char with 6 Str, and 3 NPCs. My car's trunk, my inv, and all of my NPCs (Strong ones, too) are FULL with guns and ammo that I can't find anywhere to unload. I mean... I litteraly have about 50k in guns. I'm full to the rim with Improved Flamers, Assault Rifles /w expanded magazines, and Sniper Rifles. The only thing I can think of doing is heading to San Fran.
Anyway, the point is that if you have a low Str, it will still suck when it comes to carrying stuff. And I don't know about others, but I just can't leave a good weapon lieing on the ground. It seems like such a waste!
Also, what about the Prizefighter perk? And what about the San Fran Lo Pan/Dragon quest? I'm not too sure on the effects that Str have on Unarmed combat, but I'd think that you'd have a very good chance to hit, but you'd do crap damage. Am I right, or does Str have little effect on this?
My main concern with this though is weapons. There are a lot of good weapons that you won't be able to use well until you can get Power Armour, which won't happen till almost at the end of the game. +1 Str from the Gain Strength perk won't help much in utilizing a good weapon... a Str of 5 still isn't too good. I don't know how I'd be able to survive without my Bozar. =(
Also, wouldn't the low luck affect you pretty severly, too? With a Str of 4, and a long-range weapon in your hands that will loose 20%-40% because of your Str, you aren't going to have a lot of luck hitting Critical Shots with a Luck of 3. For that matter, you will probably have a lot of Critical Misses... at least until (if) you find the Bad Luck Dog (god bless that god-damn bastard).
Damn that Zeta Scan... don't those Hubologists know that we do a lot of bad crap between NCR and San Fran? Hell, I probably need a new Zeta Scan every 10 mins to clear my mind of all the bad stuff I do! You don't get to 1500 Karms by being nice and kind to slavers and highwaymen. You do it by loading them full of 15 pointy bullets from your Bozar, which you STOLE from some poor unsuspecting guards.
All in all, your starting strategy looks excellent, except for the piss-poor Str and Luck. But, if you think they don't affect the game too much, then I'm makeing my next char with these stats. What do you think? Can the game still be milked to its full potential with a low Str and Luck? Teach me, oh wise one!
Finally, the WORST thing about this. The starting traits are aweful! The gifted one is great, I always use it, but the other one ruins the game. It means I can't use the Bloody Death trait! What is the point of playing Fallout 2 if not to see the enemies' heads get blown off from your SMG fire?! >=)
