In praise of Lenny, hasta la vista vic

I know Lenny gets a lot of bad press for being one of the worst NPC but in my book, this guy rules.

I am still going through FO2 for the first time, but Lenny won the Frog fight at Redding for me. Twice I played through and Sulik went down. Third time replaying the fight Lenny runs into the big room, Frog's gang turned on him with the shotguns and he still wasted two of the gang with his grease gun. This allowed the rest of my group to go in and cream the Frog gang with minimal damage (except Lenny who lost over 1/2 his hit points).

I thought this guy was supposed to run and hide when the shit came down, but he's always been gungho for me.
Is this a fluke? Drop Lenny or Vic?

I had to kill Lenny (bug?) But I had no problems in that fight (Frog) regarding Vic, But I did have a problem then with Sulik who kept running away, It turned out he was crippled, I was told to use doctor skill on him, this revealed that his arm was crippled, I took him to the doctor in VC and that cured him, I've had no problems since with any party members (Sulik, Vic, or Cassidy)
