[FO2] Military base, level 2, BIG problem!

First time out of the vault
Ok... I'm at the military base, fairly near the end of the game, I fix the generator, go to level 2 and the fight with the Super Mutants gets more complicated than it is because my party members keep rushing toward them, so I decided to reload at level 1 and change their behaviour through the combat control thing. Anyway, instead of going to level 2 I went to level 3 to do some exploring, I found Super Mutants and wiped them off from the face of the Wasteland. Went to level 4 and obliterated the mutant magician and its Deathclaws no problem.

So now I go back to level 2 to deal with the mutants left and get myself some power armor. As I play through the level I notice that my character is sometimes partially covered by by the walls but I didn't give it much thought, so when I'm finished, I head back to the elevator and guess what... IT'S NOT WORKING. All my saveslots are from level 2 and in all of them the elevator is screwed up. Am I screwed up? Is there anyway I can edit some file or whatever and appear in another place?


Please, if I have to start all over I'm gonna kill somebody...

EDIT: I used the hand cursor over the elevator and nothing. And I have Killap's patch installed.
 
i had a similar problem...
try saving your savegames in another spot, reinstalling fallout w/out the patches and see if it works... it did for me then i reinstalled the patches n crap later and it still worked fine for me...

If you uninstall a patch and try to load a save game wont it give you an error saying "Previous Game Version" or something? I'm sure you can't just uninstall patches and reinstall them at will and continue to use savegames.
 
did you fast travel to level 3 from the "city map" that comes up when you enter the town?

this is a bug that lets you go to other levels when you havent repaired the generator yet... and screws you royally..
 
No, I did not fast travel into the base.

I tried SledNeck's solution once and it didn't work (savegame error when attempting to load). I'll try again, though.

did you reinstall the patch n everything too?
 
Yes, reinstalling the patches makes the savegames load but the level is still bugged. Oh well, I guess I'll start over in a few months...
