Mortifyingly embarrassing problem at Military Base

Im horrified to admit this, but i cant attach dynamite to metal rod in order to access military base!! Ive tried putting dyn in Item slot and 'using on' rod and cart (nothing happens) Ive tried putting rope in item slot and using on rod and cart, ive tried putting dyn on floor in front of cart and using rope on it. If i try to touch the dyn i pick it up and put it in my pack! I read in a walkthru that it has to be unarmed dynamite, but the minute you try to do anything but drop it, timer device pops up..growls

It's the safest to use unarmed dynamite but it doesn't have to be. It works with both but i would suggest not arming it.
Put your cursor over the metal rod, then click on it and hold your mouse button down. A menu should appear. Scroll down to the backpack icon and select the dynamite from there. that should attach it to the rod. Now simply push (use) the cart and it should work.

Ah..my saviour!
I did Navarro and NSF while i waited, but im gonna go back to the base now and try that before i go to Enclave, thanks hun :-)
