[FO2] My NPCs wont trade with me any more

My NPCs wont trade with me any more

I have played the game several times, but this time, i am at the Courtyard of Vault City and i can trade anything i like with Sulik, Marcus and Cassidy, but as soon as i pass thru the exit grid to anywhere else, wasteland, Gecko, NR, i check and find out none of them will take anything from me, nor can i get anything off them. I get the message 'Sorry, thats too much to carry' on both sides, even tho none of us are fully loaded. I cant even go far back in game because i saved games over and over in diff slots to test the non-trading theory. I cant play on properly cos they have Bishops Briefcas, the Voice Recog Module and other stuff i need. Thinking of killing them frankly..growls..help?

Have you applied the patch ? I know this question is always the first to be asked but pre-patch this problem would occur. If not, i recommend installing it.
If it is installed you can work around this by stealing from them. Stealing from an NPC is not a hostile action so you can steal from them and plant stuff on them without 'getting cought'. I know it's a bit tedious but it might even solve your problem.

Thanks JR, i did patch the game before i started this time, but it then loaded with all the save game slots labelled 'OLD VERSION' and i got an error msg when i tried to overwrite, so i reinstalled the game. I have a friend sending me the US version next week (i have UK 1.101) so no kids and i cant do Jonny quest or Find Doll Get Wrench, and im sick of blowing innocents away with a Bozar just to get stuff i need, lol
The steal thing is a great idea, i didnt know i could do that...but how do i plant things on NPCs?

Planting things is done just the same as stealing. Use your steal skill on an NPC (either in your party or not, if they are in your party you wont get cought, if not their is a chance you'll get cought) and instead of moving an item from his inventory to yours, moven an item from your inventory to his.

Urm, oops, you didn't get the saved-game converter. That is why you are getting the errors. Try to find one, it might help.

Sorry if this sounds a bit silly but have you checked the weights on all your characters. I find that my NPCs get weighted down pretty fast near the end of the game and that if you want to keep some of your stuff, make a supply cache somewhere on the base (the BOS base at San Fran and the ruins of the raider base work well).

The Bug might be allowing you to trade when it shouldn't. Anyway just a suggestion.

I really think it may have to do with either your saved map files been corrupted, too much items, or didn't convert your game files with patch.

I noticed that on another post you mentioned you are a little overwhelmed by the over population of one sex here, so why don't you hop on by another FO fan site with a little more equal/more polite conversation?

I got the patched US version and it was fine after that, and until then i did the Steal thing, a la Fallout (i only played that for the first time 2 weeks ago, after playing F2 4 times, lol)And then just before i switched to my new US version, i shot all my NPCs with a stolen Bozar to punish them for misbehaving...

LOL..im fairly foul mouthed my own delicate self, so i wasnt offended...just wondered if there were any more girls? Still, i have bookmarked that site, so thanks :-)

While i have your attention, i have played past the end of F2 four times, and only once out of the 4 times did Marcus suddenly appear to have acquired Power Armor. I didnt give it to him, it just said he had it. Is this usual?

No problems. There are actually a lot of female FO fans around, but they are usually from way back. Unwashed Village as we are called is an original community form by veterans. The ratio there is about 7:3(better than here which is like 99:1), but the girls pretty much run the show there. Meaning they are well respected. It's actually a gathering for the more no-nonsense types, more intelligent/artistic/expressive types of FO fans hang out there(in no way meaning there aren't any here, but UW is just an older, more grown up community). Of course the average age there is slightly higher so that helps. :P :D If you decide to join, you may/maynot need a sponsor, so give me a shout first.

Yes, and no. It's a graphic bug as I understand it because of the patch. It has happened to a few here before. Marcus can't wear any armor, period. He told you that himself.

I am glad you enjoy it, on behalf of the village, I say welcome. :P What name did you register under? I am using the same name of all the boards.

Rob is a veteran, and the chief techie of the board. You should be able to get to know others in due time. Tink and Sylvie are our most adorable female villagers.

The reason FO doesn't get mentioned very often is because it's a old veteran board which has been going on for around 3-4 yrs. Everyone gathered together for the love of FO, but now just goes there for the laughs, friendship, advice, and fun.
