[FO2] npc questions

npc questions

Right now I have Vic and Sulik with me. Sulik seems to kick ass, but I'm getting close to blowing Vics head across the room. He VERY often switches to a knife after I tell him to use A shotgun, even though he has plenty off ammo. Does any one know why he does this?
If I remove knoves, etc. from his inventory will he switch to hand to hand?
If I switch his disposition to aggresive will he be more apt to use gun?

Normally the problem might be ammunition. Vic might not have enough and once he runs out might be converting to the knife. Out of curiousity, is he using a double barrel?

Alternatively, you might have Vic on melee. Usually in the NPC controls you can customize options, and I think if you check it will probably either be ranged weapons then melee, but it might in reverse. I would check that.

You should do as Welsh said. But then he still sometimes does this and this is do to the fact that he has some AP left, meaning he didn't use up all his action points in that round and he has the ability (ie enemy is close enough) to attack once more but then only with a knife. Solution, don't give him one. To my knowledge he has never switched to HtH and set his combat settings to 'stay where you are'. Mostly Sulik or your main character will be the ones the enemies move in on so the chance of him switching isn't all that big anymore.

He does have plenty of ammo, I think it may be the AP thing, I'l take his knife ang check it out.

Simple answer : in the attack settings, change "ranged then melee" to "melee", like this he won't use any melee weapons in his inventory.
Also works if you set "snipe the enemy", but I think it's kinda weird, if combat mode starts close to an enemy the npc runs away to 'snipe the enemy'. (lol)
