OK. I give up. Where's the second car part?

I've searched for "car" and "car parts" on this site, and I've looked high and low in the game. I even looked at a walkthrough, but I cannot find a second car part. I have way too much stuff right now and really need to unload at least the one car part I have, which I found very early in the game (in the area with the rats, I think). So where do I get the next part? I've done the Gecko plant, but have not been able to optimize the thingamijig, and I have a tool set from Vic's daughter, both of which the walkthrough seemed to indicate were required, but nobody will take the optimization data. None of the ghouls in the Gecko plant will talk to me anymore, and my "contact" in Vault City HQ has nothing new to say to me. I'm ready to give up on this quest (along with a whole lot of other ones!).

The Ghoul called Skeeter has the part you require. At least I think that's him. He's in the Junkyard area of the town.

If you can't talk to him, then you're stuffed. You might be able to steal the part but I'm not sure if it is his inventory.

The Toolset you give to the Ghoul who trades it in with the car part.

The Contact in Vault City? What the Councillor guy? He's what you need for Reactor the quest. As far as optimising the Reactor goes, don't worry too much about that, there are 2 ways to go about it, one involves talking to a giant Rat and one doesn't. As long as you get a certain disk, you can optimise the Reactor yourself, or via the help of another ghoul in the Plant.

If the Ghouls won't talk to you, then you must have upset them.

Optimising the Reactor isn't needed for the Car Part, though not upsetting the locals is vital.

--- Oh, and you can always dump some of your spare stuff in the trunk of the car, even if you don't have the parts for it. I played as the dumb character which I think makes getting the car impossible, (well without mentats probably) so I used to use the car as a locker inbetween journeys. A bit out of the way if you want to go from NCR to San Fran though.

Thanks for the tips. I never thought of the car as a storage place. Too bad. I've traded a bunch of stuff I would have otherwise kept. Ah well, there's always more.
