Patches?

Right, another simple question from me. What are the benefits of using a patch, and what if any are the disadvantages?

RE: Patches?

Im assuming this is FO2 related.

Advantages: Fixes bugs in game.
Disadvantages: 1.00 saved games useless unless you use a save game converter.

Xan is right. The 1.00 and 1.01 version of Fallout 2 are VERY buggy. Now you can get lucky and not notice anything, but the unpatched game can feature huge bugs like: a disappearing car trunk, ghouls at modoc shooting at you for no reason, unexplainable crashes, Unresponsive NPCs and more. Not only that, but the unpatched game also loads much slower then the patched version, so really you have nothing to lose by applying the patch. The downside is that your savegames become useless when you ahve the 1.01 version. For the 1.00 version there's a savegame converter available in the files section of this site.
