pipboy lingual enhancer

Where do you get this item?
i saw my brother get it in bishop's safe after sleeping with mrs. bishop, but then i try the same thing, and it isnt there...is it anywhere in the game? if so could someone tell me where, and how to get it?

well...because if he found it there, and it is a one time only thing, he aint gunna find it elswhere...i just want to know if that is the only place to find it, or if it can be found elsewhere

As far as anyone knows that's the only place to get it. By the way, if you know the specific conditions of getting it, I'm anxious to know. Most people fail to get it most of the time.

no i dont know the conditions...and i doubt my brother does either, because he just started playing and didnt know what the hell he was doing...i just know he was woman when he got it.

Ahh, I think you can get the Lingual Enhancer if you have a relatively low speech skill...I don't know the exact amount though :(

I don't think that's it. Probably many assume this simply because of what Mrs Bishop says, but people have got the Enhancer with Speech well above 100% (myself for instance). I have experimented and think I know that it does *not* depend critically on any single one of the following:

* High stats (had all 10's and didn't get it)
* High *or* low Speech
* Having finished the game
* Any sex perk or reputation (tried it with all four)
* Gender, apparently, since the brother was playing a woman and I was a man when I got it

It could be a combination of the presence or lack of any of the above or other factors, of course, in which case it would be exceedingly difficult to find out (and be sure you found the correct combination) in an experimental fashion.

One of the few solid clues I have is that the only time I got the Enhancer, the description of the sex with Mrs Bishop used the words "sterling performance", while at all other times I've got "passionate" if I have good stats and/or sex reputations, or "not the best" otherwise. This has also been the *only* time I've seen this description, which leads me to think that this "sterling performance" sort of corresponds to an instant kill on the critical hits table. :) Thus you'd need to reach that high mark to get the Enhancer. But how to improve your sex skills when you already have the perk and reputations and top stats? That's the mystery.

The only things I know that I did between not getting the Enhancer and getting it was a) raising my ST with the Power Armor and b) finishing the game. Which doesn't seem to help much.

um...actually, My brother when he got this, was playing a cheat char with 10 of each stat, and 300 of each skill...and atleast one of every perk, except for the gain (stat) perk's.

No no no no. You have to have high enough Perception to notice the look in Mrs Bishop's eyes when you talk to her about Valut City(before you get into bed). After having sex, you can ask her "Are you from Vault City?" and she telles you the story, and mentions the enchanter.

Good old Mrs. Bishop. I guess few of us is having trouble pleasing the Nymph? The best way to achieve total satification where she talks about that thing you did with your tongue is - the Karma Sutra perk. This perk is relatively useless in many other areas because there usually no need for performance anixety anywhere else you decide to drop your pants. Sexpert and Gigolo won't cut it unless you have high EUD, STR, and AGI(or as it's called in the industry, you aren't flexible enough). A good way to check is to audition for the Porno Studio, because if you have what it takes to be a porn star, you should have what it takes to tenderlize her into overcooked noodles.

It also may help if you try this before finding Vault 13, so there is the dialogue option there.

Nah, I get the tongue thing when I get "passionate" and it doesn't help. Ergil's info sounds interesting though, I'm not sure I ever tried the Vault City dialogue with high PE (well, higher than my usual, which is 7-8). I'll look into that.

I've often read that Gigolo is what makes the biggest difference for your sexual performance. When it comes to Porn Star, that's a combination of stats and reputations, because with Sex Appeal and Gigolo you can be a Porn Star with really lousy stats.

Hmm...., I've made a discovery!! Per, you are a very literal person, aren't you? :D Well, I usually doesn't compose when I write on the net, it's usually too much work for my brain after all the hubbob of work. So, I often write as my thoughts going through my head. A lot of times the idea/writing works in my head, but it sounds disturbed when it comes out. This is what I was trying to say:

According to my experience and whatever information I've gathered, the best/easiest way to please Mrs. Bishop is to have the Karma Sutra perk. For some reason(in my personal gaming experience), even with Sexpert, Gigolo, and Porn Star, I couldn't get Mrs. Bishop to be totally satified. You can tell this if she will let you ask anything without clamping up or falling asleep. You will usually get the dialogue saying roughly "She falls asleep, you wonders if it was due to your less than stellar performance, but you try not to think about it".

I jumped thoughts here, I believe my brain was going faster than my fingers. I meant to say what I explained above that it didn't cut it for me. As for the crack about industry standards, you will be told this if you audition for the porn films but didn't make it. All three needs to be high for you to be a porn star if you did not choose Sex Appeal.(which is diffcult because you are only allowed two traits.)

I am wondering what you meant by it doesn't help when you get the tongue thing.

That's what happens when you spend a lot of time trying to collect all the minute facts in a game like this. :) It's a bit funny to see how people respond differently to the same question, though. For instance, in the instant kill thread, you can answer the question "how do I get instant kills" in two completely different ways depending on if you interpret the question as "how come it happens at all" or "how do I make it happen more often". Being literal is of course no guarantee that you'll get it right, so sometimes you have to try to cover every possibility, which of course often means more work than would have been necessary. I wish more people would be completely rational like me. :)

But I think you always get one opportunity to ask her about something, and if Ergil is right that may be enough to ask her once about her accent and then if she's from Vault City, even if you perform poorly. Only I can't try it right away because I'm visiting my family for the holidays. :/

That's because I was fixated on the "sterling performance" message, and since I got the tongue message along with the "passionate lovemaking" message (which I believe is not the best result), but not the Enhancer, then the tongue thing was seemingly not an indication of success. If Ergil is right and it hinges on knowing she's from VC then this may not have anything at all to do with it, although I suppose it could be that you need to do the VC thing *and* make her happy enough to part with the Enhancer. Now I wonder if we can squeeze any more confusion out of this. :)

Well, together we will pick apart anything!! :D We can confuse even those who weren't confused!! :D

Well, even if you did poorly, you were still given a chance to ask some questions, but, she will fall asleep after a question or 2. If you did great, she won't fall asleep no matter what you asks and how long you keep at it.

The tongue thing is kinda of fickle to my knowledge. It may happen if you have sterling performance or not.

well, refering to the origonal question...
yesterday i just started a new game with a default.gcd that just gives 10 of each stat. i went straight to new reno, laid mrs. bishop, afterwards, i just talked to her for a while, i got her to tell me about the enhancer and tell me where it is...in a secret compartment in the safe "a thief cant find it if he doesnt know what to look for" (something like that). so now i know where and how to get it...i just dont know all the requirements.

BTW...all it did, was raise my speech to 100 from 90...dont know if it just raises 10, or if it raises to 100, but thats all it did.

It raises Speech by 10 and gives you 500XP.

All the instances of this ive heard of is when Mrs Bishop describes the night as a "sterling performance".. Although it COULD just be a coincedence, it seems like it is probably the way to get it. However, i dont know exactly how to do this.. Maybe perks like Karma Sutra Master and traits like Sex Appeal and high charisma and all those sorts of things trigger it. Surely someone must know for certain..

I have an old note saying it was +15% for me, but I don't know if that's correct. (I had Speech above 100%.) When I load the Enhancer into my inventory using the inventory editor it does nothing, so I assume the game somehow checks to see if you've "earned" it (does any other item work that way?).
