Please de-fuddle my polyestic thigamajig

Hi!
I have a prob. (We all have probs, I know -_-')
Here it is.
I can't get Sulik to use the Super Power fist when he's using the ripper. I can swear that the fist does more damage than the ripper. Now whenever I select USE BEST WEAPON, it remains on the ripper. Is that due to his meelee skill being higher than his unarmed skill, or what is wrong?
I know I can take his ripper and just hand him the power fist, but he still won't use it! AAIGH!
Help me!

Sulik can't use a sophisticated piece of equipment like the mega-power fist. He's only a tribal.:) What? You're a tribal too?:D

Funny thing is he can use the Adv Power Armor, a much more complex piece of technology.
