Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

sorry if any of this has been covered already, but i havnt got time to flick through all the past posts so if any of this has been covered, feel free to point me to the relevent posts. now, on with my questions:

can you make Redding join any of the other towns (i think it was Vault City, New Reno and NCR) if so, how do i make them join?

where can i find a 'Good Karma' guide for the game?

in 'The Cafe of Broken Dreams' tandi mentions someone called Ian (i think) who might be found 'In The Abbey' is this an NPC somewhere? anyone any idea or is it just idle chat?

thanks in advance for any help given.

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

I think redding may join a city, if you do the quests for Marg LeBarge or Dangerous Dan, you cannot do it directly by talking to some one( i think) but if you do the quest for one of the mine owners in the final FMV sequence(end game anim.) it will show that it joins this or that, >>>>( i think, might not happen, try it)<<<<

?what do you mean good karma guide? the one at the end of the game??

now, on this subject, I know absoluetlty......nuthin', only been there once or twice and my car boot dissapears so i bugger off, sorry

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

i mean is there a guide to fallout 2 on the web which will say which quessts will put up my Karma and which will lower it.

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

I havent seen any that state exactly which quests give you good karma but use common sense.

Kill a guy trying to do a good thing, ie; assassinate him = bad

form alliances, make friends, and make friends of your friends with others = good

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

OK, this is what you do :

Both of the mine owners (Dangerous Dan McGrew and Marge LeBarge) want you to get them a mining machine chip from the Wanamingo Mine. If you do it for Marge, Redding will join NCR. If you do it for Dan, they will join New Reno.

However, if you give the Jet Antidote to Painless Doc Johnson, it will cancel out the mining machine chip quest, and they will instead join Vault City.

The NCR ending is the best one, btw, so don't give them the antidote.

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

actually i prefer the churches and colleges in...
you know (no spoiler)

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

The part about not assassinating people being good for your karma isn't neccessarily true, kill any evil people (almost anyone in the den or reno) and your karma goes up. but there are plently of walkthroughs on this site, and if you follow any of them your karma will be high, being good is easy, you have to work pretty hard at being evil to be evil in this game (although kill some children and you'll either be dead or really evil real quick)

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

I meant that the NCR ending for Redding is the best (happiest) ending you can get for Redding.

Why does the jet antidote quest cancels the mining machine quest?

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

The doctor supports Vault City, and by enabling him to cure the jet addicts in the town, he gains enough prestige to influence the town towards Vault City. You can still do the mining machine quest, you will just get the VC ending.

RE: Questions of a Self Proclaimed Newbie

yeah, but if you do, you might get a whole bunch of guys that, if you kill them, you get negative karma.
