The bugged Geiger Counter

When I tried to search a stuff container on a table, my character picked up the stuff, which disappeared from the screen (leaving an empty table) and instead turned into a Geiger Counter in my inventory. The Geiger Counter couldn't be used, though, and if dropped it would look like floating stuff. Eventually I sold it to a shop.

Remember in which place that happened?

Yep, the Chop Shop, one of the two tables to the left of T-Ray's room. Why?
