Surly the is a charecter better than all the rest?
I ask for opnions.
I have my own, too.

Luck is useless. I've met all the special random encounters with luck 2. No problem there.

During my long travels in the desert i've found only two uses for high Charisma.
1) Getting married. Fun but useless.
2) Joining the Mordino family. You can still join all other famalies, so it's not so bad.
With high Speech skill you can do anything else.
And of course NPC's, but you won't need anyone else. And it made me feel real bad when one of them died so I never took them to the Enclave.

So, my ultimite char is
9 Strengh
7 Perception
10 Endurance
2 Charisma
9 Intelligence
8 Agilty
2 Luck

Taged: Unarmed, Small guns and Speech
Traits: Gifted and Heavy Handed which I sometimes change to
Fast Shot later in the game.

RE: The ultimite charcter

Why 9 strength? Power armor raises your strength, so 9 is a waste.

RE: The ultimite charcter

First, by having 9 strength you are missing out on the 6 bonus points you can put into it (armor+chip+perk). 7 perception is ok, but 10 endurance loses you another possible point. With 2 charisma, you won't be able to HAVE many NPCs to do your dirty work, and won't have any negotiational skills until late in the game. 9 intellegence also means you'll miss an increase opportunity. 8 agility is good, but 9 is always better, so you'll have 10 by the end. And, of course, luck influences critical rate, particularly after taking Sniper. My character has Sniper and 10 luck (by the end), and gets a critical with every shot. Yours seems like an ok character, if all you want to kill someone and then think about it afterwards.

RE: The ultimite charcter

The way I see it, there are much better uses for perks.
With Charisma 2 and speech taged, I convienced the guy at the end of the temple to open the door. Here's the way I spent my first skill points: after the temple, I got Unarmed to 100%
and spent the rest on Small Guns. Next level, after helping Torr with the scorpions, I got Small Guns to 100 too. And then I get Speech to 100%, at Level 4, and I keep the remaing skill points. I usally keep them until I can select the Tag! perk, and spend most of them on Big guns. From there...

By the way, I asked for your best char's not telling me whats wrong with mine.

RE: The ultimite charcter

Ive found that a character with these stats work pretty nicely...

Strength: 6
Perception: 7
Endurance: 9
Charisma: 4
Intelligence: 6
Agility: 7
Luck: 2

I agree that luck doesnt really do alot but critical hits, but you dont really need critical hits if you got good weapons and or weapon skills. Strength isnt needed to much becuase once you get a gun strength is only really needed for carry weight and such, and at 6 you can get some of the cool perks needed with strength.
Good endurenace is always nice, because more hit points is always ncie :)

As for tags, i always like to put small guns so that you dont suck to bad in the begining, steal mainly becuase i like to play the role of a thief, and lockpick because it allows you access into places you normally wont be able to get into, it helps in the begining becuase a lockpick set is avaliable until awhile down the road.

I usually save up my skill points once ive got my taged ones up to 100, until i get the Tag! perk and get big guns (like Ergil said), after that i will just basically go up with whats needed...

RE: The ultimite charcter

It's all personal opinion, and posting your character generally means you want comments. I'm away from home right now, and don't have the exact specs on my character (but as I remember, its st2, pe8, end4, ch7, int8, ag9, lk7, gifted, small frame, small guns, speech, sneak). BTW, which perk did you mean? There are few better than sniper. Sorry if I sound antagonistic, but I haven't gotten much sleep over the past two weeks, and have to be up at 4 am tomorrow to catch a plane home.

RE: The ultimite charcter

I meant the Gain (char stat) perks.

RE: The ultimite charcter

One of (i have lots) favourite characters...

ST 5
PE 6
EN 4
CH 4
IN 10
AG 6
LU 5

With skilled, and then kamikaze or something like that.

30 skill points a level. You get enough perks, most of them aren't that good anyway. But you can increase the luck with the hubologist to get the better criticals perk, and drugs'll increase perception and agility for sniper, later. You can pretty much get all the other good perks with those stats...

Oh well.

RE: The ultimite charcter

i always like super snipers

5 str
9 per
2 end
4 cha
7 int
10 agi
9 luc

gifted and either finess or kamikaze
small guns, lockpick, and steal. at lvl 12 get "tag" for energy weapons. always aim for the eyes, with 19% or 9% crit it will almost always be critical and ill get the Better Criticals perk.

RE: The ultimite charcter

i usually go

5 str
8 per
7 end
6 cha
8 int
7 agi
4 luc

with gifted and finesse. Tagged Small Guns, Speech, Steal. Got Big Guns with Tag!.

RE: The ultimite charcter

i usually go..

st- 6
pe- 6
en- 8
ch- 1
in- 8
ag- 10
lu- 1

with unarmed, doctor, and speech(or barter) tagged

and bloody mess trait

(yes i've beaten the game on hard with an all unarmed character and it works quite well)
get bonus move, and 2 bonus ap's with bonus h+h attacks, lifegiver always useful :)

you can get 4 aimed hits per turn, each doing alot of damage =] unarmed tanks are the best class in this game (in my opinion)

RE: The ultimite charcter

What do you mean you change your traits?
Besides, I think "fast shot" would be better in the early stages of the game, since your gun skills aren't very high then(especially not with "gifted").

RE: The ultimite charcter

I mean the Mutate! perk.
And my Small Guns skill is at 100% before I leave the Den.

RE: The ultimite charcter

>and I keep the
>remaing skill points. I usally
>keep them until I can
>select the Tag! perk, and
>spend most of them on

Do you tag big guns then add the skill points or do u add the skill points then tag? With the tag perk, you double your skill points in the skill you choose, and once you get over 100% it costs more to upgrade that skill, and 200% is even more, if you spend you skill points then tag, at 150%, you get 300% big guns :-) (i think... I did it when I had about 114% and ended up with 228%)

RE: The ultimite charcter

My favourite character to play is this:

ST 7
PE 9
EN 4
CH 4 or 5 (can't remember0
IN 10
AG 10
LK 2

Gifted as a trait, of course...and *maybe* heavy handed or fast shot...tho normally i leave the second trait open...

RE: The ultimite charcter

>Do you tag big guns then
>add the skill points or
>do u add the skill
>points then tag?

I think the Tag! perk is designed the way it is just so that this doesn't matter. It takes the number of skill points already invested and modifies your skill to what it would be if you'd put twice as many points into it. Thus you cannot gain an advantage by putting points then Tagging or vice versa. Am I wrong?

RE: The ultimite charcter

My Char is like this:

ST 4
PE 8
EN 4
CH 7
IN 8
AG 9
LK 7

Tags are Small arms, Unarmed, Speech, Traits : Gifted, Good natured. Thsi is usually enough to talk the Temple guard out of fighting (or at least steal the key). By the end of the game with all the gain perks, this guy can have all 10s except for endurance, by I compensate with 2 life givers (plus 8 hitpoints per level). Later in the game I raise my Energy skill to around 150 and then tag it, reduce it to about 200 and use the rest of the skillpoints to get my Smallarms (raised to the limit by reading lots of Guns and Bullets) This guy is kind of slow to develop, but as soon as you Tag and distribute the extras - he rocks. By now I have these perks: Gain Ag, Bonus rate fo fire, 2 life givers, 2 educated, sniper, awareness. On my list: Living Anatomy, gain Luck, 2 action boys, etc..
It's fun fighting all the way to about New Reno only hand-to-hand with strength 4 :-)

RE: The ultimite charcter

for tag skills over 100% it takes 3skill points to go up 2% (i think, might be wrong) so if u upgrade, then tag, you should avoid that 3:2% ratio and just double it... in fallout 1, it didn't matter if you did one or the other. Also, what is the point of saving up skill points, if you continously upgrade, you'll be able to use the weapon sooner then waiting for the Tag perk, at around 70% it should be half decent, does it just impress you people to go "oooohhhh 80 skill points, look at how fast I can upgrade this skill...look! Look at it go!" :-)

Whats the problem?

First, you can reach Lv 4 even before leaving Arroyo, if you know what to do(that was a general piece of information).
Maybe its becasue i played the game at the Easy level. Anyway, I showed how i distrebuit my first skill points somewhere above.
