[FO2] Unarmed vs Melee

StaTich

First time out of the vault
I am planning to create a new character after finishing the game with small guns and big guns years ago, and I do not know what to pick between unarmed and melee wpns.
I do not know the bonuses I would have of going all the way with unarmed (cause I guess it is harder) and if it really is possible to finish the game this way. And what STR is perfect, I was thinking a str of 6 would be great for starters, but if I equip PA can i take the slayer perk?

btw, is energy wpns road any good, cause I never tried them and was curious if they are worth it.

It is.

That question makes no sense. Your equipment has no consequences on the perks you can select.

It's a different route. You can try it. It's not really any worse or better than the small guns route, except that energy weapons are non-existent in the beginning of the game.

But once you get hand of things in the end-game, you kick ass.

I know that slayer perk requires STR8 and AGI8, if my base str is 6, then when I equip the power armor, can I pick up the Slayer Perk?

And now, back to the main question, what should I pick, Unarmed or Melee?

If the Slayer perk requires a Strength of 8, then no. Unless you take drugs before levelling up.
But as far as I know, the Slayer Perk does not require a Strength of 8. Also, it'd be nice if you told us which game you're talking about, exactly.

Whichever one you like best.

uh, I am talking about Fallout2, like in the name of the topic: [FO2], and I think melee sounds better, but unarmed sounds more hardcore and harder...
Ufff, I don't know... I will sleep on it prolly. :D

In my gameplay experience, nothing beats punching an enclave soldier in the eyes, the groin, the eyes again, the eyes again, the groin one last time... all in one turn, with a mega power fist... and watching the big well-armored brute bleed out on the ground in front of me without ever getting an attack in.

Unarmed all the way!

Misteryo

unarmed is definitely the way to go in F02 (as opposed to Melee)

I get really bored of knifing people with little jesus' knife and whacking em with a sledgehammer.. and the ripper, while cool, gets old fast.

The expanded unarmed combat in F02 is way more fun than the "thrust", "swing" "aimed thrust" action of the melee weps, and you can pick up quite a few skill points for unarmed for free. (the dude in the bar in klamath, the tribal in arroyo)

do the New Reno Boxing quest and buy some dermal implants, and you'll be stylin.
(toughness bonuses OMFGBBQ!)

Critical piercing strike to the eye FTW!
