Working for the Duntons

I've been having a problem with my copy of Fallout2 for a few weeks now.

I just can't work for the Duntons anymore. I don't know whats happened but whenever I ask them for a job, either in Klamath or on Tor's Brahmin pastures, they always say "I dont think theres any work for you here" or "buzz off some of us have real work to do. I've started the game again a few times but it keeps happening.

I would greatly appreciate any info that anyone has.

They say that if you've gained a few points of town reputation. For that reason you're better off doing the rustle thing first thing when you get to Klamath, when you haven't done anything like killing Keeng Rat that would endear you to the townspeople.
