#1 FO3, character’s ability to repair, upgrade and modify weapons and armor.
This could be done through the use of purchased machine tools. These tools would work through the user’s ability to select an item, place an item from the character’s inventory onto another item (same way you repaired various objects in FO2).
Where would the machine tools go: During random encounters in FO2, my character stumbled across many houses with tool sheds behind them… Perhaps if my character had the ability to mark one of these houses on the map, he could set up his tools within the tool shed?
#2 FO3, character’s ability to upgrade armor/act more human
If my character can repair advanced machinery and equipment, I would think that he would be able to make minor repairs to his own armor and weapons. And, if in battle, when critical hits occur, wouldn’t it be safe to assume that eventually your armor would need to be repaired? Well, how about using machine tools for this? Also, what about upgrading armor and modifying it? Like, combining the Telsa armor with the Power armor to prevent damage from energy weapons? And, allowing the user to discover that on his own, hence, allowing the user’s creativeness to effect the game play.
#3 Extended/Alternate game play
I’d like for the End-game play to be just as satisfying as the In-game play. I’d like for every game to be different than the first. When I beat the game and start my 2nd round, I do not want to have to go through the same motions as the first time around (I know that’d take a long time to program… It’s just an idea). Perhaps allowing the A.I. characters freedom of movement and of choice (random generator) would be interesting?
Ex: Joe bob “The Merchant” decides to travel the wastes on his own and hands the business over to his son (such is life).
#4 Multiplayer FO3
Perhaps this would work? Use the same map that was in the single player game… Replace all or some of the A.I. with human players. Store last position and character stats on the users computer (or game server) when logging off. Pop-up dialog box allows human players to chat/role play in the game it’s self. Community based/created Multiplayer Role Playing Game.
