FO3 Megamod?

Advance apologies as i'm sure this has been asked here many times already. Is there some kind of project for Fallout 3 similar to what Killap (and others) has done for FO2 and myself and TeamX are doing for FO1?

The reason I ask is because we all know there's tons of things that need fixing and changing in Fallout 3 -- but, back when I played Beth's Oblivion I had 90 mods installed. Yes, ninety. That shit is fucking cumbersome and I do NOT want to do it again.

I'd like to spend time playing a modded version of the game that allows me without thinking every few minutes "Oh there's another thing that should be changed", but also not spending half as much time managing mods as actual playing the game.

Some kind of "The All-Inclusive What Fallout 3 Coulda Shoulda Been Mod" would be grand.

Thanks :salute:

You could just, ya know, not play it.
Hey now, i'm allowed to like the game!

Uh oh, maybe it'll ruin my street cred in regards to my FO1 mod. Ha

I agree, Fallout New Vegas, definetly improved on the many, and vast wrong-doings of the bethesda re-boot of the Fallout video-game series.

Edited to not seem stupid.

I think that's refering to New Vegas ;)

Personally I couldn't stand New Vegas. I really can't get into the southwest wasteland stuff (ya'll). I don't think of post-apocalyptic as having cowboys and all that shit. Plus, while they did fix and improve a lot of stuff that was wrong in FO3, they also left a bunch of other stupid shit. So it's not only a dissapointment because of the stupid choice of location, but it's also a technical dissapointment because even though some of the original team(s) worked on it, it's still fucked up.

Anyway on FO3 mods, this is a good page I found
http://blog.knotclan.com/2009/04/25/must-have-fallout-3-mods/

From there I got tons of changes from a dozen mods instead of ninety ;)

Yes, this. A million times this.

I feel that the prevalence of six guns and lever actions was more the region than the setting of Fallout as a whole.

On the otherhand, cowboys are very Americana, shows about the Wild West and John Wayne movies were very popular in 50's & 60's. I feel it fits on it's own, but then again I love wheel guns and lever actions.

Hmmm, fair enough. Mostly I was refering to the accents. If no one sounded "Southern", i'd not have nearly as much problem with it, if any. I mean in terms of realism obviously places with certain culture would maintain semblance of said culture regardless of point in human timeline, just for me (and others I assume?) it makes no sense to go from Fallout Fallout to Cowboy Fallout.

See, but really, other than the wheelguns and lever actions, there isn't that much cowboy shit outside of the NCR rangers (which was dumb for a variety of reasons) but kinda fits the whole "frontiersman" kinda thing they had going for them, but doesn't fit nearly as well. Could also be sort of a play on the "cowboy" nature of special forces groups. IE, that as the elite, they're less bound by the more rigid rules of the military, especially in regards to dress, hair, weaponry, etc.

I found it really dumb that most rangers were absolute fucking pushovers outside of the veterans, because their armor was shit, and they all ever had was like a Cowboy Rifle.

Like I said earlier, I really don't see much of a wild west thing outside of the presence of the wheelguns and lever actions, and the few ranger outfits.

It feels nothing like Red Dead Remption and RDR feels entirely like cowboys and stuff.

Regardless of who likes New Vegas or not, it proves just how strong the Fallout IP can be, if done correctly. Yes, at it's core it's retro post apocalypse and this fact should never be forgotten. Yet as a whole, Fallout can juggle so many different subject matters and styles that it really adds in unique and specific flavors for each series installments. This is a major reason why I've stuck with this series for as long as I have.

Fallout always had a resembling sci-fi western setting behind it, so I don't see where you're complaint comes from. Also, as others already have pointed out, the appearance of "Cowboy stuff" is merely due to the actual geographical setting, people in this region always used such hats, it's just in their culture, y'know.. However I agree that when it comes to "postapo" feeling, Fallout 3 delivered it a bit better for me when in terms of bringing up a good atmosphere. Matter of taste, I guess. ;)

Ah, and "IP" is the Franchise - the license of Fallout etc.

As you're probably already aware the WMK+MMM+EVE+FWE(or FOOK 2)+FOIP combo is as close as it gets currently.

As with FCOM and Oblvion no-ones interested in making the combination into one executable though.

Sadly, we're doomed to spend countless hours installing mod after mod to get the best experience.

This.

And I would recommend this mod for better music that's much more fitting for the game. Add in a bit of Morgan's work too for that throwback feel. With all of these combined and you got yourself a playable game of Fallout 3

Took FOOK2 out. It's buggy, crashes your game, and many of the weapons while cool, just don't fit in the Fallout setting.
