FOT Patch-Now Eax & A3D are gone

I have installed the new 1.25 patch and then I went to the sound options and lo and behold EAX and A3D are now missing, I uninstalled the game reinstalled it with out the patch, EAX is there and so is A3D, reinstalled the patch, they are gone. I have seen on quite a few other boards that this is a big problem.Now what do we do? :-(


We need the patch to correct other problems that are in the game, but now it altering the way the game is recognizing other drivers or files, several boards also report that people are having crashes more frequently than before. I do not know if these are true or not, but it seems to coincedental that they show up after they have installed the patch. Well, back to the drawing board!

Hey Boru,

I just installed the 1.25 patch myself and I feel for ya man, one of the great things in FOT is the variety of Boom Boom that the weapons now give; it's so damn distinctive I can usu. tell who to loot by what it sounds like when they shoot at me! ;-)

As for what sound to select, I too was running EAX off my card, and with the cleanup that the patch does for their "miles" sound stuff, I chose Dolby Surround as it, to me anyway, most closely mirrored what I wanted the sound to perform at. So far I think it's running OK, but I'll probably double check again when I get home.

You might want to re-read the readme file with the patch (I'm at work so I don't have it on me) but I think they mentioned some sound fixes.
