First time out of the vault
First of all, i'm new here. I searched quite a bit for any solutions and found nothing, so try not to get pissed if this question has already been answered.
I just recently installed Fallout Tactics (I played the demo years back and loved it), and everything has been running smooth with no real problems. I noticed right off the bat that the pathfinding in the game is spotty at best, with characters running into walls left and right, but i didn't mind too much until the shit hit the fan at Freeport.
After clearing the main enemy encampment, i decided to tell the elder to move to the extraction point, unaware that there were still a couple of enemies left that weren't brought out by the alarm. He moves out, and disappears off the screen. I continue to move North when i find more enemies. I dispatch of them, go throughout the entire level, clearing the map of anyone and everyone, and take out the alcohol still. However, no exit grid shows up.
I notice in my pip-boy that the elder objective hasn't been scratched out, and i look around the map and find the elder staring directly at a wall in a nearby house. i've been overwriting my saves this entire time so i have nothing to reload, and restarting the game is completely undesirable right now. i save in a new slot and reload my game, just to find that when i reload the elder runs, only to get stuck on another wall and stare in the same direction, which is the direction of where the exit grid should be. He stands there for a couple of seconds and runs back to where he was. I even had my squad group together to build a wall preventing him from running into the corner, and he just stares at us, until one of us moves, then he's back on the corner. Out of frustration, i kill the elder, hoping that it will let me restart the mission, but the game just sends me back to the load screen.
I picked up the 1.27 patch, reading that it fixes some pathfinding issues, and after a very troublesome install (i had to extract the patch myself with winRAR), the exact same thing happens. I fear that my only choice is to start all over again, which is something i'm not particularly excited about. I also get that feeling that if I start over again, he'll get stuck on the same wall. Any suggestions out there?
