FPR files

Ok guys, im getting nowhere with this,
so i need to ask for help:

How do you insert FPR files into Framanimator?
I'm editing existing game FRM's, and recompiling
them again. Therefore, isnt it true i dont have to
do the frame offsets for these new FRM's as all that
info is in the FPR file?

Yes thats true, and when you dont use the animator, for mcp armor mod you will take twice time as usually!

Thanks mr wolna, but can you tell me how i do it?

I have another embarrasingly noob question:

Im using Datexplorer - and i want to replace
the initial HMWARRXX FRM's with my new ones
to test in-game. But i cant figure out how to
use Datexplorer to overwrite the default files
in critter.dat!!

Do you have to unpack the entire critter.dat,
overwrite the files and then repack it into a
new .dat file? i cant figure out how to repack
it!! help!

Just place it in the appropriate folder in DATA.

Oh! so you mean i don't even need to unpack the critter.dat
file? are you sure as i was told i'd need datexplorer to do this.
Or am i missing something? im totally new to this aspect of
FRM's

You may have to rename or move PATCH000.DAT though.

Im using 1.0 FO2, so there isn't a PATCH000.DAT file. This
is normal, right?

Well, the way the game loads files, its kinda complicated.

Lets just give an example.

Say you have a file(well call it masterb8.msg) First, when the engine is looking for this file,it will look in PATCH000.DAT. If its not found in this it will look in the DATA folder for it. If its not there it will look in MASTER.DAT for it. When the engine does find it, it quits looking. So if you have HMWARRXX in DATA\ART\CRITTERS or wherever it goes then it will have dominance over the one in Critter.DAT.

There is an article on file read order here on NMA, but I cant find it. Ill keep looking, though.

Thanks for posting that. I did have a
good read through Wild_Qwerty's FRM
guide but couldn't find anything on
incorporating the FPR files you find in
the unpacked FRM files. Any ideas?
