Free webspace, where to get it?

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
The subject says it all really: I'd like your opinion on the various providers of free webspace you may have used - amount of space available, amount of extra spam mail, ease of use, that kind of thing -. There are a few files I'd like to upload, including some boardpics, and I might get around to creating a small website about videogaming and music. I don't know much about all this, but I'm willing to learn. Thanks in advance.

I use Geocities for my gaming website needs. The ads aren't as bad as they used to be. You get 15 megs of space, a yahoo email account, and can upload through your web browser or FTP .

If you are making a more professional website but don't want to pay for hosting or a domain name, check out www.dfxwebs.com. They offer free hosting for game sites with no ads.

I use that last one mainly to look up CSS tags i forgot.

www.1and1.com gives you 500mb of space and 5gb of transfer a month for 3 years, all for free, no ads or pop-ups, and with a few email accounts as well. But....

I can ftp files back and forth to it fine, but every time I try to access web pages, files, etc, that I've uploaded through HTTP I get a "404 - file not found error". Their WYSIWYG editor works fine though. I don't have any idea why this is - some people get it to work, but I can't. If you have some skill with this sort of thing, ie .htaccess files and the like, this might be good for you to monkey around with. It's free anyway, so it might be worth getting anyway.

He's refering to 1and1.com - you have live in the US to be eligible for the free web space, which I forgot when I posted it. Sorry, Kurgan.
