Gaining perception through glitch? In fallout 2

First time out of the vault
I think i got perception through glitch. I bought car in Den, and after that i drowe it to Redding. On half way I was stoped by a vision from Hanukin. When i got to Redding on information screen was a message that I got 1 perception, and after that another message, all the same. I cheken the caracter screen and instead 5 I had 7 perception. Could somebody please tell me is this a glich or it is normal - perhaps becouse a vision?
 
My guess would be that some alcohol or Healing Powder effect wore off while you were travelling.
