Mr. Teatime of DAC informed us that he had gotten ahold of the full Fallout 3 article that was featured in the latest Gameinformer magazine, so here it is:
Last month it was announced that Bethesda had acquried the Fallout license from Interplay, and the company has confirmed that that Fallout 3 will follow The Elder Scrolls IV as a new next-generation title. While only in preproduction stages at the moment, the game will use the same technology as Oblivion, and is planned as another open-ended roleplaying game. This game however, will be decidedly darker. Imagine a survival horror-esque version of the Fallout world, with all the things you expect out of the series still intact, but with deeper, more immersive gameplay. The post-apoc theme (with tongue in cheek humor) of the series is still present, with your character having spent the first 20 years of his life living underground. Because of this, his eyes are unaccustomed to the light of day, thus players will have to train their eyes away from light sensitivity by using a special pair of goggles. Todd Howard claims that Fallout 3 will be one of the most original and violent titles ever and will be set in a familiar US city.
So there you have the full article, remember what I wrote earlier and what Pete Hines said about this article.

Im a little bit afraid because there is too much boast around graphics and all that stuff...

I dunno, if you think about it, all the hype seems to be centered around TES IV when it comes to graphics, Fallout will be "Just another game" with that engine, so they will have to make an effort. Graphics are something yes, but if people have already seen them then they want more. Hopefully Beth will realise this...

It's a console magazine. If you read the entire article on Oblivion you see the mag's main focus is how the Oblivion's graphics show the power of the upcoming consoles. I think a lot of that attidue continues into the FO3 article. Notice how neither of the PC mags talk a bunch about that...

Aye, I was subscribed to Game Informer for a year and they spew nothing but unintelligible console crap. The typical preview and review is something along the lines of "Teh Graphixx Are Teh Gr8est!" (Sorry, my leet speak isn't used often :)). Anything that magazine says can be and should be ignored.

Will Interplay be working with them on fallout 3 or are they doing all the work alone? Otherwise it wouldent have that fallout edge.....just another rpg.

How the fuck would Iply affect it ?

ALl of the people that made FO what it was have left Interplay.

If you left it up to Interplay, you'd get 'splended' games like FO:POS and FO:Craptics.

I think there are four people left at Interplay now, counting with Herve. There are other employees of course, but they just stayed to try to get the late wages back while searching for something else. It`s a zombie company, like Joystick so well put it.

with your character having spent the first 20 years of his life living underground.
Anyone else tought about the guys from the ghost farm (slags?) when they read this? Maybe they're thinking about making the main character in FO3 be from someplace like that.

more immersive gameplay.
Since i'm feeling pessimistic today, i'm going to go ahead and say that looks like a nod towards a first person view.

Funny, we don't want "original". We want Fallout. Fewer marketing buzzwords, Todd, more use of the brain to avert making stupid comments. Marketing buzzwords are designed to dumb down people, and there's therapy for that, I'm sure.

Do the words Most violent ever scare anyone else? I mean sure the violence in fallout was fun and all but it wasn't what made fallout

I'm not directly against the idea of daylight eye training, but "special pair of googles" sounds kind of dumb, but maybe i'm just bickering.

Maybe they are trying to play off of the intro to FO2? Maybe make it seem that they are trying to have some sort of continuity between the this upcoming game and its better predecessors.

Smoke and mirrors.

Not to be too nasty, but I do remember Chucky going off like Special Ed about his "bitches and hoes, bitches and hoes, yaaaay!", thongs, and having some relevance to the Fallout universe, but for the life of me I still cannot fathom that man's idiocy. I truly do pity those who did buy into his lies.

Bitches and hoes, indeed, Chucky.

what is it? it wont load overhere for some strange reason...

from the title given to it by Rosh i can guess it is the old press vid?
