Games like STALKER?

For those who haven't played STALKER, it's a post-apocalyptic action FPSRPG. It's basically Fallout 3 if Fallout 3 wasn't shit. Oh, and it takes place in Chernobyl and has many more elements of psychological horror.

To summarize, it's
-Single-player
-Open world
-Post-apocalyptic
-an FPS with some RPG elements
-Not shit

I've recently gotten hooked on Call of Pripyat (the third game in the series) but before playing the others I want to know if there are any games like STALKER. I have a few games I've heard are like STALKER, but I know aren't.

-Metro 2033/Metro Last Light; I didn't like 2033 but I did like Last Light. I've a). already played them and b). noticed they were always (mostly figuratively, sometimes literally) on-rails. I'm looking for open-world games.

-Fallout 3/4/New Vegas; I've played both 3 and New Vegas (NV > everything else in the franchise) and I plan on playing 4, even if just to criticize it, but I'm already aware of their existence. Speaking of,

-Fallout 1/2; Somebody recommended them to me because... they share a post-apocalyptic element? IDK. Point is, they're not even close to what I'm looking for. I've already played them, anyways.

-Survarium/Escape from Tarkov; Multiplayer. Ew... I live in Flagstaff, where we get worse internet than the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. So... MMOs are a no. Besides, MMOs are tied to a central server, which is a no-no for me.

-Unturned; Someone recommended this to me. I thought it was alright and threw five bucks at the dev, but it's just not what I'm looking for.

So, NMA, what do you have locked away in your Steam/GOG/Origin (shudders) libraries?

Play Shadow of Chernobyl, Call of Pripyat with Complete mod. Then play Clear Sky with Complete mod. Then repeat with Misery mod.

Clear Sky is regarded as the weakest in the series. Shadow of Chernobyl has the best story, while Call of Pripyat has the best gameplay.

There's no other games like Stalker/Metro at the moment. You've already named all of them, as the company making Stalker canned all their plans for another game and instead split up and some of them tried to make Survarium which has received Mixed-to-negative reviews.

In short, just play Stalker with Complete mod then repeat with Misery mod.

The closest game I've played to STALKER was Metro 2033. I don't think the Fallout games are anything like STALKER at all, no idea why anyone would say they are. Other STALKER-alikes tend to be online games, which I have no interest in either.

But there are enough overhaul mods just for ShoC to keep you going for ages. Try Lost Alpha, Oblivion Lost, LURK. Misery for CoP, though that mod is very bitchy at times. I don't recommend Complete myself, it's really not much more than a bloated composite of other mods and it reduces the challenge of the base game for reasons.

I think Stalker with Misery Mod is what Fallout 4 should have been since Bethesda decided to go in the direction they did - they should have made a game like Stalker rather than...whatever Fallout 4 turned out to be.

As for Complete mod - I haven't actually played the games without the Complete mod because I have read dozens of horror stories regarding the buggy mess that these games can be. Clear Sky in particular is notorious for being buggy and unplayable without the Complete mod.

I didn't like 2033. It was just too damn clunky for my tastes. Last Light, on the other hand, was a freaking masterpiece.

Complete gets sold as a bugfix suite a lot for some reason and recommended to new players, but it shouldn't be. It changes the game in quite a few ways to make it deliberately easier; it isn't faithful to the original game as it claims to be. If you want plain bugfixes, use Zone Reclamation Project/Sky Reclamation Project - these form the base that Complete adds all of its other crap onto. Call of Pripyat doesn't need third party bugfixes.
