Gamesdomain :(

Was going to visit one of my favorite games sites today, to check up on some stuff. But what did my eyes meet but a big, ugly Yahoo logo, crowning a skeleton of what the site once was. I don't know about you guys, but to me Games Domain always seemed to be just a little bit less sell-out than the rest of the big general purpose gaming sites, such as IGN, Gamespy and Gamespot. They also had a longer history than most game sites around nowadays, archive of reviews spanning back to the early 90's (maybe even early 80's?). Anyway, I really think all those huge media conglomerates could go **** themselves in the *** rather than do things like this...

Yeah, and Yahoo seems to say that they actually did a bad, sneaky, interplayish and evil thing:

Back in November 2003, Yahoo! acquired Games Domain from BT plc. Not many people noticed. That's okay. We preferred to keep it quiet so we could work hard to blend one of the original video games sites into the Yahoo! network

Heh, "blend"... More like "violently force it into our corporate machine making it look nowhere near its former self and dumb it down by a factor of 20"
