Gamespot preview of Restricted Area

The German action-RPG Restricted Area has been previewed by Gamespot. The preview introduces the setting, explains some of the game mechanics, and makes some mention of the game engine.
After you get a mission, you can then travel around the world map by procuring transport and clicking on the sectors where you want to go. The game randomly generates maps and environments, so no two games should play out the same. When you get to your destination, Restricted Area feels very much like Diablo in terms of combat and pacing. You walk around the level, blasting away at everything that comes after you. At your disposal is an arsenal of firearms, ranging from pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, and assault rifles, though they're all fairly generic, so don't expect to see any particular weapons, such as an M16 or an MP5 submachine gun. You don't need to worry about ammunition, either, as you have an unlimited supply for your small arms.
They mention the game Diablo in three out of five paragraphs of the preview...

It IS Diablo in a new case. If you liked Diablo and you like apocalyptic settings, you might like Restricted Area.

Diablo just is the only mainstream game with that kind of gameplay (just that you can't use town portals without aborting the mission).

is it me or it's just plain no brainer hack and slash ... or rhather shoot and blast ? seems like that from description.

unlimited ammo thing was just a cherry on the top of that cake

Yeah, it's Diablo II in a new case. You switch around prosthesisses (or whatever the fucking plural of that is supposed to be) instead of armor and pump up stats and skills just like you know it from Diablo.
The modifiers on those items are a bit crappy tho and somehow loot selling isn't half as fun if you have to leave 90% of the stuff behind simply because you can't TP until you've finished the mission.

but diablo was more fun to play ;)

RA offers (me) not enough motivation by gameplay to play it through even once  believe me you WILL get bored after some hours of playing it .. even if it feels cool at the start when you take the shotgun dude

I only played the demo and never finished it because I couldn't just leave all the presshus lewt behind and had to restart the mission everytime I went back to town.

Meh. It's got its design flaws, like most modern German games.

OMFG!!1!!1! 50 kewl!

It's another game fit only for shamelessly stealing FRM's for Fallout mods if they're good. Oh, wait, it's cool 3D? Damn. It's not even going to be fit for that.

Seriously. I mean, come on, they introduced limited ammo around Syndicate. Or better yet, Fire Force.

I may give it half an hour, if I can uh, borrow it.
