I dunno if this was discussed allready.
But I was wondering what kind of engine do the fallout fans want for FO3?

I'd actully like to get back to the roots.

as cool as FOT is, I don't like the way they animated things. Using 2d image projections of 3d objects. it takes up way too much memory, and ram.

Also, I don't think they'd be able to have the realtime combat of tactics encorperated in a soloplayed RPG.

If you think aboot it, sure realtime is great, when you have 6 guys. cos you can lay down cover fire, sneak over here, and kill that guy while the main character crawls to the needed area...

but if its 1 on 6, you'll definatly need time to think aboot what your doing, and the realtime, just doesn't give you that. you could get gangbanged by 6 guys. 2 shoot, 2 run in for the melee attack. and one guy throws granades... your toast.

I love the new battle system of FOT, but I don't think it would work. Plus, I didn't like the whole "I have to make sure all these guys are with me" thing. I'd much rather just worry aboot me, and let the NCP's follow aimlessly. Ja Know?

Now, if they give you a steady supply of NCP's that can hold their own in realtime, and don't squeeze off burst fire every 3 seconds (killing me and my other NCP's) then maybe the new engine will work after all.

Now that I've given my side, lets here what youg guys have to say...

Ugh..

Fallout and Fallout Tactics both used prerendered sprites. In fact, nearly every game out there that's 2D uses prerendered sprites and has been since the mid1990s.

The only difference is, Fallout Tactics uses more frames of animation per second than Fallout did, and the sprites are high color(16bit) as opposed to Fallout's 8bit sprites.

i think dey should make a new engine...3d would be cool but u might loose some of d fallout charm, while in 2d interplay would probablyt not sell much more den d fans of d other falloutz...good graphics always attracts some attention, but d histrory haz evrythin to say...aquanox=gd graphics lousy history...
