GBA regions?

Are GBA games region-free? Is that true even if I wanted to play, say, an American GBA game on a European Nintendo DS?

Not the DS, it`s region free, for the GBA i don`t remember, try Google.

Yeah, that was me heh. I got my DS today. I don't have any games yet though, so I've mostly been drawing cocks in pictochat all day.
