Gecko Pelts...

Gophermaster

First time out of the vault
How in God's name could Gecko Pelts be worth anything in a post-nuclear world? They don't do ANYTHING at all and are worth a fair amount of money. Luxuries would be worth next to nothing in comparison with neccesities. Stupid gecko pelts...

Actually there are a shitload of items that are completely useless, and would be worth nothing in the real world, yet cost MONEY.

Yeah just think about flowers and puppies....SO FREAKING USELESS!!

Mohrg

I dont know, there probably could a use for gecko skins. Hell, for a while the colonial america economy was entirely based on the damned furs the indians traded us. Maybe gecko pelts could be used in clothing or shoes? Or even armor if given to the right craftsmen.

Yeah, just because we didn't see Gecko Armor doesn't mean that it wasn't used to make hardened clothes and footwear.

Well, gecko's being reptiles I would say that their skins are used like some form of scaled leather (like snake-leather boots or something)

They could be used to make bags. They maybe are water proof so they could be used in that sense for certain things.
They could even be used to make some small make shift tents but you sure would need a hell of a lot them to make that.

But anyways, there not completly useless...

Poor Geckos :(

Anyway, they'd be useful for all sorts of stuff. Clothes, tent covers, waterbags.....

what irritates me is their look in the item menu. Sorta remind me of seal pelts (the normal white ones)....

they probably are only useful for luxuries, but they still have a lot of value in fallout (luxuries on general, that is). look at new reno. they dont have much that are nessecatys rather than luxuries (except for the drugstore (my mind went blank and i cant think of the guys name!)). it would be good if you could buy and sell pelts (and others items that it would apply to) for next to nothing in vault city(where they only have nssesaties) but sell and buy them for loads in new reno (where they use them to make luxuries like shoes etc.) *breathes deeply*

Maybe they use them for drugs or eat it judging as fallout can be a bit messy.

Poor geckos? They try to kill you for gods sake your as bad as that deathclaw obsessed woman that eventually dies.

It says when you examin Mrs. Bishop that she's wearing a golden gecko skin skirt, so I'm sure they use it for clothes at least.

Renesco "The Rocketman"?

Anyway, they give value to lots of things. They used to pay people salt so why not make Gecko Pelts a valuta thingy...

Actually, there's a good reason that salt was worth so much in the past. Mainly that they didn't have refrigerators.

Yeah, ok, good point. But that was the only thing I could come up with at the time. Right now I have a better explanation. It's a game. It would be silly if you have an item that is practically without any use and without value. What the item lacks in usefullness, it makes up in value. Look at the game, you can sell practically everything. Even the Cheesy Poofs that have probably gone beyond eatable quality. ;) How do you like them apples :p.
