Getting rid of Kaga's encounters

The rest of the Restoration Patch is awesome, but the Kaga encounters just grate so bad. He turns up out of nowhere with no previous context, my character says a bunch of dumb stuff without input from me, and it seems to be the same damn scene at varying levels of difficulty. Every time I run into him it just kills any sense of immersion, especially because he's basically immortal until the game wants me to kill him and frankly Fallout just doesn't really play that way.

Anyway, I want to get rid of him and his stupid combat scenes, but I would still like to keep all the other stuff in Restoration Project 1.2 because I don't think I can go back to playing without it. I never finished Fallout 2 before, last time I only got up to Vault City, so this time I want to make a proper go of it... and I'd be able to if it weren't for these HORRIBLY ANNOYING ENCOUNTERS AAAGH.

Is this remotely possible to do? Any help would be appreciated.
 
Deleting glkagaen.int from the fallout2\data\scripts folder should be sufficient to stop the encounters.
 
He has been improved greatly in 1.2. Depending on your skill, you no longer have to fight him. But yes, Timeslip's info is correct.

Also, though I don't know exactly what the original devs were planning with Kaga, I can understand why he was scrapped.

How is it possible to talk your way out of it though? Kaga opens the scene by shooting first...
 
You also need to have at least 100 speech in order to talk your way out of the fight.
 
The first poster has a point, if the PC is good enough, he should be able to kill Kaga in the first encounter.
 
Still, his encounters need work. Especially the fifth one. And there should be dialogue with him, insted of monologue from him and the PC - if only to make it faster. It's annoying to wait all the time for him to finish the small talk and, if killed, go through it again.

And, perhaps to fix the problem with the breaking dialogue, make him invulnerable to knockout?

I've decided to make the diplomatic possibility available on the 3rd and 4th encounter as well rather than just the 2nd. Should make things better for people who missed the opportunity on the 2nd encounter.

Actually, I just looked again at the proto files associated with Kaga and I realized the reason he keeps getting knocked back - despite me attempting to prevent it from happening - was due to a bug in the proto file itself. I have fixed this and Kaga should no longer get bugged when knocked back.
