GEtting sound to work.

First time out of the vault
First, please don't hurt me I don't like it very much. :D
Now I am running Windows XP. I managed to get the game(Fallout 1) to install. But I can not for the life of me get the sound to run. The sound configuration whatever that the game trys to run, is WAY too old. It doesn't even notice the sound card in this machine.
I have a "Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM)". At least I think thats the sound card...its in the device manager and I would assume...

Anyway, can anyone help me?

Alright. I installed from the disk, using the compatibility wizard(in accessories). It boots up in msdos prompt. I installed the biggest size. I have the latest Direct X. Aside from that need any other info? Everything cuts to msdos prompt though. and the Sound config thing never auto picks up my sound stuff, and I don't know how to do that manually. I can get the game running (the menu appears), and although I have not clicked play game, I'm fairly certain its gonna work. But no sound plays, and I REALLY don't wanna play this game without sound.

I did not install manually.

It sounds like you used an MS-DOS install.. In which, unless you manually alter the settings if the autoconfig doesn't work, you're screwed. DirectX doesn't matter much in MS-DOS, either. Try the Windows installation instead.

...a friend just pointed out to me that the page that that one sticky thread links to says setup.exe not install.exe
I just did a windows install and it works fine, sorry for the trouble I read the darn thing but didn't read it well enough apparently.
Sorry for wasting your time. My bad.
