Glowing Ones

Morticia

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but I've searched several different ways and checked all the modding FAQs and tutorials I could find. Not even an ancient thread to bring back from the dead, except for much larger projects. :(

Somewhere I read that there were only 3-4 critters from Fallout1 that didn't get added to Fallout2: (lieutenant, gizmo, overseer). No one mentions the Glowing Ones.

There are some Glowing Ghouls in FO2, but none of them are dangerously radioactive like those in FO1, Vault 12. Is this just a different proto file that could be added back into FO2? Some places I read said the FO1 and FO2 proto files were compatible, and at least one said they were different format and were not.

I think that Critter pro format from FO1 is almost the same like in FO2 . You need only to add 4 bytes at the end of every *.pro to make it in fallout 2 size.
(if i remember right)
So how could these be used in FO2? Should I copy, edit, then add the original protos from FO1?

The ID of the PROs are actually their line numbers from the critter.lst, not their filename
This list is nothing but numbers, so how do I find the actual proto I want? (before I can try to figure out how to add 4 bytes to it. Hex editor, I guess?)

Or would it be better to find some way to make new protos from scratch? They'd use the same FRMs as Glowing Ghouls, so that's not a problem. I tried examining them in FUCK but I don't understand it. Is there a different tool for doing this? 'Damages' shows "Threshold" and "Resistance", but nothing about causing radiation damage - which is the only thing that really makes them any different than normal Glowing Ones. - Though I would probably make them a bit harder to kill. 8-)

No. The radiation is set in the script. So if you want, that the player becomes radiated, if he is attacked by one of the "glowing ones", then you need to edit the script for them.

Thank you Lexx.
Going in the wrong direction to begin with. And, of course, it has to be scripts, which I have no idea how to deal with. :x
