First time out of the vault

... Games like Fallout 2, well, I don't cheat there, but games like Gothic 3 where there's combat everywhere, dumbed down difficulty slider and there we go... If some monster is giving me trouble, I just bring up the console and kill him right where he stands. Ah :D

My Hero.
Maybe you just didnt get what Gothic is about anyway...
It IS about the fights... if you're making it a quest-to-quest-run you ruin it yourself...
G3 has its downsides, but fighting itself wasnt one of them.

Gothic 3 has a lot of annoying combat bugs. Including an amazing feature in which a wolf can chew through plate armor and kill a full grown man in under five seconds.

Anyway, that wasn't Morbus' point.

Yeah, maybe I didn't. I've never played the first game and I never really got to finish the second. I'm not a fan, so I don't really have to "get what it's about". I play it my way, the way I like, the way it's fun for me.

Ok, maybe you had a point before, but now you're full of shit ;) Offtopic.

Yeah, my point was I hate dungeon crawls where a man fights it's way through hordes of (boring) enemies... In general, as I love some dungeon crawlers and rogue-likes.

reminds me of the people that roleplay in Oblivion

I'm an ass... what did you expect?

depends on how you played it... and what you expected...
the Gothic-World was always full of annyoing enemies of all sorts... it kept you from just going anywhere from the beginning and when you finally killed them all... totally worth it.
Though i dislike the dungeons too... there were just too much in G3 that had absolutely no story or relevance...

it was more like the boars ;-)
and the combat itself was nice, the bugs just spoiled it...
atleast try to differentiate

No, the combat isn't that nice. It pretty much comes down to who starts his combo first. The patches have fixed a lot of bugs and now prevent creatures from making unbreakable combos, but for the player it's just click click click until the enemy dies or another creature breaks the combo by hitting the player. In 1 on 1 fights, it's pure clicking. Okay for an action game, but for an RPG...kinda boring, don't you think?

LARP's not fun for me, but yeah, it reminds one of them.

Ahah, I guess  Good analogy.

The combat is completely twitch based. There so little roleplay in it it's just annoying. I don't like action games very much, and I don't like action in RPGs, so I erase it from the RPGs I play, if I can, if I want. Gothic 3 has more to offer than action. Little more, but it's there.

This attitude is guaranteed to send you flying out of the boards, with a size 12 footprint on your ass. Capisce?

Try to type properly.

And no, the combat wasn't nice, regardless of bugs. It was alright, but the plate-chomping dogs, overpowered mages and strafing/dodging boars were just too damn much for me. The only "nice" part I found about it was making critters strafe off cliffs.

Design problem.

Combat was nice? It was horrible. One of the dumbest things I've seen so far - auto-aimed fireballs, hit you almost every time. Plus, you get to fight 30 orcs and the same time and live through it. Not even the story is interesting when you go further into the game.

One thing I like about G3 though is that the landscape is more diverse and interesting than Oblivion's. It also has just the right amount of caves - not too many, not too few.
