Graphics settings - where are they?!

First time out of the vault
First off, I absolutely hate tech questions that add nothing to the forum in the way of conversation. That said, there are absolutely no shadows in my Fallout New Vegas. In the video options menu (in-game) I have not found a "low-medium-high" graphics setting, just a bunch of sliders. I've maxed them all and it still looks... well like you'd expect a shadow-less 3D engine to look like. Rather dull.

Although I tend to think Fallout should not look very flashy, and have thus far enjoyed my dull and shadowless experience (no irony intended, I really don't think great graphics and the Fallout vibe go together well) - I'm getting a bit curious as to where the video options are.

Perhaps it's a video card problem.

PS The game is great and for me has vindicated Fallout after the F3 travesty. Something I never thought would happen. Which makes FO:NV nothing short of a miracle.

You can't change those settings in game. Use options from the launcher that runs from steam.

This.

Also, be sure to turn AA and AF off in your graphics card control panel.

I do seem to definetly be running it from the executable directly. But since it really is a great game, who knows, perhaps one day I'll run it from steam.

Anyway, thanks a lot to everyone for the quick replies and all.

Cheers.
