This may be old news...

Nonetheless, in my recent search for good freeware games I came across the fact that the first Grand Theft Auto game is free to download. 328 megs.

Ah, the joy of torching policemen with a flamethrower.
 
I recommend GTA 2 instead. GTA 1 is unplayable without Moslo, since it runs too fast on modern computers, and if you use the built-in frame limiter it lags a lot.

I loved playing it on my old P5 133, though. Once I played it 18 hours a day, four days in a row.
 
Yeah, I'd nticed that before. Lucky me, since my GTA disc somehow doesn't work anymore. Damn.
It's great fun, and quite possibly the best GTA game ever made. I enjoyed it more than GTA 3 and Vice City.
 
Ratty, it's a modified version to work on modern PC's.

Edit: 'Sides, GTA2 isn't freeware.


Other than that, dunno, the link works for me.
