Gyah.. FOT Crashes.

First time out of the vault
Basically, the game starts fine and all..but when I select any options on the main menu such as single player/options/etc it goes to the next menu then crashes immediately with the illegal operation box.

I'm running WinXP, 1.04 GHz Athlon, 512 MBs of RAM, GeForce 3 Ti200, a Soundblaster Live! 5.1, and Direct X 9.0
 
Yep..patched to the latest version, and tried compatability mode for 2000, 98, 95, etc..nothing worked so far.
 
do you have any number, messages on that illegal box? try pasting the info in google or ms knowledge base, could help
 
Erm..Seems to have eaten my post I just tried..well..

I reinstalled the game and patched and such and it worked! But then I restarted my computer, and it stopped working again, same problem..bleh..I don't know what to do..
