Harddrive based mp3 players

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I'm looking for an harddrive based mp3 player that costs less than 380 $ and has 20gb harddrive or more, support for mp3/wma/ogg, and has a battery capacity of 14 or more hours. And it's dimensions shouldn't be more than 13/3/8(cm) anyone have any suggestions? I've been looking at quite a few players but most of them didn't have ogg support :(

I'm also wondering if anyone knows if any of the following players' firmware can be updated to get ogg support
Creative Jukebox Zen NX 30GB Retail /
(Asono jukebox HD500 20GB/ Jaxx HD500 MP3/FM 40GB/ (I think these two might be the same player, but I'm not sure...))
MPIO (Digitalway) MPIO HD100 20 GB

Sony is working on a hard drive based MP3 player that will be as good as iPod and it will cost only 60 dollars. It will be released next year, so if wait if you have patience.

Ummm, why do you want ogg anyway? What's wrong with good old mp3?

I want ogg because: It's a smaller filesize according to quality and like 500 of my songs are in the ogg format...And it takes all of forever to convert that many songs.... Besides I'm going to get the harddrive based mp3 player for X-mas, I'm about 90% sure of...I just need to find which one I want, and it needs ogg support, and mustn't be too expensive...I saw one with ogg support, but it was way too expensive, like 580$...My parents don't want to spoil me so I don't get that expensive gifts... Have any link on that harddrive based mp3 player?

Nope. Surf over to Sony's website, there should be some news there. I'm afraid that player is scheduled for next year, though, so you don't expect to get it as a Christmas present.

Why do you insist on a hard drive based MP3 player? IMO flash RAM players are much better. They're (much) cheaper, solid state (i.e. they have no moving parts, you can safely carry them around and drop them and nothing will happen to them, nor will they skip part of the tune), lighter and smaller. My MP3 player, for example, is two times smaller than my palm (and I have a rather small palm), so light that I can barely feel it, it can play MP3 and wav (I think it can even play ogg, but I can't confirm that), it can record audio (it has a built-in microphone), Windows ME and XP detect it as a removable drive (which means you don't need any drivers for it), it comes with up to 224 MB built-in memory and with an additional compact flash memory card I can extend this up to 2224 MB! That much memory should be enough for about one full day of music - by the time you grow tired of it, you'll already be home and download additional music! Basic model with 32 MB built in memory cost around 70$ one year ago, and by this time the price must have decreased significantly. Let's say it costs you 60$. You'll still have 240$ of your 300 to spend on a 1 GB compact flash card... Which you can use to transfer all kinds of data (did I mention you can use the player as a portable data storage device?), to plug into your camera or just take it apart to see what it looks like on the inside... :P

hard drive based mp3 player because: then I can have all my songs in one place, and don't have to delete any songs and such when I download new songs that I want to transfer, and I can use it as a portable storage device and then I can transfer about everything I want to a new computer or use it as a backup device etc etc....:).
The only thing I have got against md players is that then you have to carry all of those mds around with you all the time, and I don't think there are any md players that support ogg :(...360 mins isn't enough for my musical needs....Especially when I'm out travelling....OK I'll check out the sony site...

Oh and yeah most (read all) hard drive based mp3 players are detected as a portable usb device, with lots of storage capacity...

I have an MPIO 128Mb player, i didn't go for the one with the chip, (lack of funds at the moment of purchase).
I love it, i can jog, skip rope and even do my shadow boxing with it.
128Mb is well enough for me, since i use it to exercice, i don't need cd-quality audio, i record it at a lower bitrate, and i have about 4cds worth of music on it.
And even tough i have selected all the songs that are on it, i always listen to the same ten.

Downloading on it it is very easy too.
here it is

Hmm I didn't find any info on the sony player at the sony site, the site way just too big and confusing for poor little me ;)

I have had the Archos Jukebox 15Gb for about a year now. It is very useful and reasonably priced. The newer multimedia jukeboxes are even better but are priced much higher. I use it more for transferring files than for listening to MP3s. The maximum flash card size of 1Gb is too small for my purposes. When I was moving files to a new computer this jukebox was the perfect way to move lots of data without burning lots of cds.

The only problem I had was when making live recordings, I would get interference from the hard drive.

If anyone finds any info about the sony player or any other good hard drive based players please post it here. I read something about a new sony hard drive based combo mp3/video player, but it'd proably expensive, besides it is functionality I don't need, and the size of it would be a lot larger...:S
