I've got the Intellimouse Explorer Optical... those five buttons rock. I don't know HOW Mac users get around with only one.

Feh, I hate curved keyboards. I'm sticking to my good ol' IBM M series keyboard from the early nineties. They don't make keyboards like THAT anymore.

Nor do they make keyboards who sound like that. If you want to buy a new keyboard, go with the Logitech cordless keyboard. Or even better, the cordless desktop. Yet even better than that is the cordless optical desktop. And more expensive. See for your self...

Well, between my FO2, and all the powerpoint presentation I have to do, I got carpal tunnel syn., so I decide to switch to one of those logitech tractorball mouse(wireless, of course), and it has being a fairly pleasant experience. But, there are several different models out there, so you may want to try out all of them(for a while) before buying.

I personally recommand MS natural keyboard pro, it's the latest for hacker/moders/programmers dream. Don't buy it if you aren't typing a lot, or just not comfortable using the ten fingers method. It's all personal preference, though.

Still, with all the advance in technology, you would think they can come up with better interface than the keyboard and mouse. I heard they "are" working on a glove to replace both interface. There are brainwave research on how to control the computer using your thoughts.(airforce, top secret) There are also eye movement interface research on the future wearable computers. Then, there are the old favorite that they never seem to get it right, the voice command module. Man, when will they be able to come up with something that will compile my notes/file when I "tell" it to?

On top there are twelve programmable hot keys too.
since i work a lot in excel it might be real good for me.

See for yourself

Programmable keys are nice..

Ugh, if Microsoft is going to use CSS relative text sizes, they should make their CSS use relative sized layout...

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Mar-14-02 AT 03:53AM (GMT)[p]Trust me, there are better ways for your hard-earned money other than blowing them on the latest, coolest hardware fad that will be completely forgotten after couple of months (although optical mouse is admittedly a must for anyone who spends a lot of time using a computer, sure beats the antique "crud collectors").

As for the keyboard, experience shows that ergonomics depend mostly on the table the keyboard is resting on, rather than on the overall design and neat features like programmable buttons.

Update:
Oh, just saw you mentioning your job - nevermind what I said above.

Why are you all so obsessed with cordless gadgets? IMy keyboard is still the oridional that came with my first box way back when in 97, it has a nice thick cord that never bothers me one bit, some nice programmable buttons which dont bother me a bit (as I never use them) and some nice quiet keys. My mouse has a luverly cord too, its all grey and long and I cant say ive had a problem with that either, I hardly notice them... my point is, are the benefits of cordless really worth the extra hassle of batteries (or wahtever) and IR sensors and all that rubbish, plus installing new drivers and the bad feeling you get when you replace one piece of your computer and it makes the rest look out-dated....

i replace things as they break. optical mouse is needed, cuz mouseballs just collect crap all day. my last ballmouse was so clogged up and unfixable i couldnt even make hte mouse go right without moving the mouse 3 feet to the right. the keyboard im using right now is pretty junky seeing as my brother ripped the cord of the newer one out breaking the little metal things where you plug it in... I have no bad feelings over replacing my junky computer hardware :D mostly because i remember all the "bad" times we've had togather

Some rubbing alchol, something to take out the keys with, and oola! You got a brand spanking new keyboard.
