Having trouble getting Inerplay's FO2 Mapper to work

El Barto 227

Mutant Noob
I'm trying to follow a tutorial I found on Vault-Tec Labs: http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Building_a_Better_Miria_Mod
But when I try to install the Mapper on Win7 (64-Bit) I keep getting an error that Fallout 2 is not installed, and when I run thee mapper I get an error about being unable to find/load fonts.
I have the GOG.com and Steam versions of Fallout 2, no disc-based versions anywhere. I have installed the GOG.com version in C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Fallout 2, which is the one I mostly use.
Can anyone help?

The trouble you mentioned is because the mapper program can't find your game directory. You'll need to edit the text file called "mapper.cfg" found in the same directory as the mapper program. There are six places where you'll need to put in some info about the path to your game directory: two lines for sound, two lines for critter.dat and patch, and two lines for master.dat and patch. For example:

C\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Fallout2\master.dat
C\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Fallout2\data

I'm not sure how that GOG stuff works, but if you want to use the mapper you'll probably want to find some way to make a backup of your whole game directory, in case you make a mistake on something and need to undo it.

Thanks. What should the musicpath bits link to?
And the GOG stuff seems to be the same as a disc-based Fallout 2, just tweaked to run correctly on newer OSes and with no disc. I still have the installer, so if I make a mistake I can easily do a new install.

Music doesn't seem to matter.

My file locations:

[system]
critter_dat=C:\BlackIsle\Fallout2\critter.dat
critter_patches=C:\BlackIsle\Fallout2\data
master_dat=C:\BlackIsle\Fallout2\master.dat
master_patches=C:\BlackIsle\Fallout2\data

You shouldn't have to alter anything else
