Yesterday, out of the blue,I started getting this message when
I booted my PC to desktop....

msi216.exe (red circle with white X)
Can not find the file 'msi216.exe'(or one of its componants).
Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all re-
quired libraries are available.

I hit the O.K. button then......

Desktop (yellow triangle with !)
Could not load or run 'msi216.exe'specified in WIN.INI file.
Make sure the file exsists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the WIN.INI file.

I hit O.K. and desktop opens normaly.

Did search for WIN.INI and noticed it was created about 2 weeks
ago and was modified yesterday. The only thing I think downloaded
2 weeks ago (against better judgement)was Real Player One basic.
Still I don't have a clue what could have modified it(WIN.INI) yesterday.

Have you tried searching your machine for a virus. Last week or so i had about 6 or 7 of them comming in my mailbox.

It is something that was added to your registry by the Klez virus. You are going to have to delete it from your registry or it will always try to load on startup. Look for instructions on what to do on an antivirus site.

RE: It's not Klez, it's W32.HLLW.Bymer

That's the bugger!Thank you Rosh.
