Help with a retexture

Hello there, I've been looking all over, trying to find some info on retexturing and have had no luck so far. Most guides I find are out of date, and based on programs I don't have so here's my question:

How do I add a glowmap to an existing Fallout 3 model using only GIMP and NifSkope?

What I'm trying to do is make the light on the power armor actually glow, rather than be deactivated.

Any help will be welcome, as I've been outright ignored on the official boards, as people would rather complain about the game there, rather then actually get work done...

I could be wrong though... I'll start fresh and see if I can get it to work, though I can't test it for quite while... I'm optimizing my meshes atm and it's at about 2405 of 10997 so I have a bit of a wait.

So if anyone has any tips, that'd be great.

It'd also be grand if I could learn to get a beam of light shining out of it too. That would totally make my day.
 
Well, I tried it out and it didn't work... is there anything else I need to do to get the glowmap working?
