I keep getting the can't find/load text fonts. I have to edit my fallout2.cfg file but don't know how. Please Help me!!!!!!

yo settle down all the .cfg is there to do is to hold all your preferences the patch is partially textual and is patchXXX.dat in your fallout dir try reinstalling your game and redownloading the patch but dont browse around online while downloading

He probably doesn’t have a DSL connection so any browsing can corrupt the file and he probably corrupted the patch file which puts contains three files, one more extra file and replaces two (patchXXX.dat, readme.txt, and fallout2.exe). The patch is a “download-in-intended-folder-and-play” patch and doesn’t affect the critter and master .dat archives, second of all the patchXXX.dat file overrides the two aforementioned files with the new .exe file, reading the patched files from the patchxxx.dat file before the other two, he had problems with the text only after downloading the patch Sherlock. Third of all, the original un-patched text is only found in the master.dat file.

I got that a few times...RESTART your computer!

You must edit your fallout.cfg file

You can use Notepad and load the file.

The CFG has some divitions marked by [ and ], you have to move to [system]

there're two lines:
critter_dat=
master_dat= (not to be confused with _patches)

you must change the value of these variables to the path where critter.dat and master.dat are located.
Exempli Gratia (or EG ;): I have installed the 'large' game in c:\Games\Fallout2 and your cd-rom drive is D:

critter_dat=c:\Games\Fallout2\critter.dat
master_dat=d:\master.dat

This is the "official" solution to that problem, it should work now, without reinstalling and doing weird things :-)

What the...
Oh, your name is MatuX, not MatriX... Weird... If I had known that someone had had a name so close to MatriX, I wouldn't have picked it. ;-)
