How about some multiplayer strategies?

well?
I didn't see anyone writing tactics they use, so I will go ahead and write a few...
maybe we can end up making this one big long thread of Tactics and strategies, eh?

ASSUALT: ah, this one is cool. what I try and do is, go straight for a highlevel platform and plant a man with a burst gun (mp5?) on top, and then have a miner lay a mine by the stairs--this way, you can kill anyone from the top, and they can't come up the ladder and get you ;)

UNDERUSED CHARACTER:
way, WAY underused char..the grenadier!! have a problem with people camping? heh, heh, heh.. THROW A GRENADE! I have not seen one man use this *yet*. howeverm I have seen many people use one small spot to regroup--they'll get 4-5 people bunched up in a small space. 2 grenades could wipe them out.

SIEGING/DEFENDING A BUNKER:
okay, I have killed a total of 3 guys, and injured 2 on top of that defending a single bunker with a single character (strom, of course)
what happened was: every person had 2 guys, one of my guys died. I team members were all dead except one, who was camping.
we were up against a total of 6 guys.

well, 2 enemy guys went to scout for my teammate, and some 5 were charging towards me (they didn't mean to charge towards me, I was sneaking, they were trying to run past my defended area), so as they're running at me, I kill one of them of them (2 bursts) and then crouch. since they were running, they couldn't fire back.

so, it's 4 vs me in a bunker. the guy tries to sneak (tries to sneak..I see him) up to my bunker..he is crawling. he is now right up to the other side of the sandbags..
I am in crouched position waiting...as he go from crawling into a crouched position, I stand up and blast him to shreds.

now there are only 3 enemies to my one guy. well, another man comes crawling to the other side of my bunker, except this time with cover from a sniper so my guy can't stand up without getting shot. so what do I do? I stand uyp anyways and blow the guy to crawling towards me to shreds. the sniper DOES manage to shoot me twice before I get down, but I simply use my 3 stims I have left (I picked them from dead bodies) and I'm fully healed.

so it is down 2 to my one guy. by this time, the guy who went to kill my camping buddy succeeds, so I am all bymyself, and and number is increased 4 vs me.

now, I am surprised I managed to pull this off, but I got to crawl out of my bunker and go around. (I guess they weren't expecting anything, lucky ass me ;P)
so, I crawl my guy ALL the way AROUND to the back of them, sneak up around their backs, and blow one guy away instantly. then they come in charging, and I managed to kill one MORE guy, and then they just over power me and I die in a couple of seconds :P

nevertheless, I killed 5 guys and injured 2! (the injuries came when they were charging to kill me in the end...splash damage from the burst)

bleh, I realize this probably wasn't too helpful, but my main point was to get a strategy thread going. PLEASE ADD-ON!

Grenadiers, sadly, /are/ useless. Not because of the fact they use grenades, but because the grenades are so WEAK. One of my opponents honestly had to throw three grenades into my SMG-Man to kill him, from inches away, and the grenadier didn't even die. Sure, they'd be a great asset if they could do some damage, but as it stands; grenadier = too weak.

One character that is a must in a six-man squad FFA skirmish game (most games, actually) is the trapper. Not only can he plant absolutely deadly mines, he is practically the only one who can sniff them out. Mines are simply lethal. I've had mines wipe out five members of a second in one blow because the player was stupid and rushed them all through the only door leading into my hideout. And if you can't sniff out them mines, you'll have to play the risk-taker and pray that the opponent didn't mine the entrances.

Another question arose amongst my teammates. More SMG-Men or Snipers? I'd say you should ALWAYS have, if possible, one of each. The SMG-Man simply because the MP5 is lethal in any fighting condition in burst mode, and the sniper, well, I don't think I need to explain why. Personally, I'd take two snipers and an SMG-Man. This way, you have superior firing range and precision with the two snipers, and brute force for anyone who gets too close with the SMG-Man. Also, if the SMG-Man dies, a sniper can snatch his SMG, meaning the said sniper now packs the two most lethal weapons in the demo, and excels with each. I took out five guys (of an amateur player, but still) with one sniper packing an SMG and a sniper and several looted stims. Blast an enemy with the SMG, stim, repeat. And with the sniper's amazing aim, you don't have to worry about missing with the SMG anymore.

Another debatable member of your squad is the medic. I'd find it ridiculous to have more then one, but I think it is absolutely necessary to have one in a six-man squad. He packs multiple stims, and the all-powerful medkit. With this tool, the medic can instantly bring up a teammate's health to full. He also packs the shotgun, which is an immensely powerful weapon, especially in the right hands, and one the "Double-Fire" setting, which can kill in one hit at close range, no question. Sadly, the former of those two requirements is lacking in the medic, as his shooting skills are... tame, to say the least. But if an emergency arises, or the man has fulfilled his use (i.e. no more stims/medkits), don't hesitate to stick him on the front line. You've got nothing to lose.

And the "scout"? Well, although the Ripper is a nasty, nasty weapon, most of the players on GameSpy are gun-toting maniacs and don't hesitate to use the Agressive-Burst combo on their men. This means that a daring charge complete with a warcry will usually only lead to your scout being mowed down before he even reaches his enemy. Although he has his heightened sneak skill and is meant to be used crawling-up-behind-mr. badguy-and-shredding-him style, I find this method extremely, extremely difficult to pull off, unless your opponent is a farsighted, six-year-old child with a glass eye. And that's that.

Well, if you've read this far, congrats. That was my rant.

Gonna have to Disagree

Grenaders are great, okay, lets say your assaulting the base, and you come upon a big mine field, and since trying to take out a mine with a sniper takes a long time, this is what you do...chuck a grenade at the bomb, and it will blow up the entire mine field, it works great! Also, in the full game there will be much more grenades to throw, so like a Flashbang grenade will be great when your trying to storm a small room, or enclosed area, so don't give up quite yet on the Grenadier...I bet he will be usefull in the future, Also, a good tactic is to get 3 Snipers on the little house insisde the base, have them prone and get as close to the edge as u can, and have a medic behind them, I was able to hold of 10 guys trying to rush with this tatic, because they had a mine field in the front to worry about, and as soon as they got up 3 shots would hit them at the same time...and the medic will ensure that they never die...well unless they are killed by a huge group of snipers...Also, if they are right against the edge, they can hit guys trying to go through the sides too, its a very good tactic, snipers up there are very useful! And Smg guys and Trappers inside, with the etrances mined, and them far away from the mines...so when the enemy comes to disarm the bombs, or tries to rush through after the mines are gone, the team of close-combat guys in there will do a good job of protecting each other!
