Ok, so I patched with the unofficial 1.02+ patch and then realized that it was incompatible with my old saves. So i copied my SAVEGAME folder and backed it up. I then reinstalled the game and put the folder back. Saves don't work now, when i click on them all i get is a black screen. Help please!

As long as you never saved when using my patch, the saves will work just fine in the vanilla game. Make sure you did a clean install and install the official 1.02 patch if you originally did so.\
Also, any error message or does it load up for a sec and then crash (ding, black screen. etc)

There is no unofficial 1.02 patch, so I'll just assume you're talking about the official 1.02 patch. For which there is a savegame converter.
