how do u recharge highwayman

First time out of the vault
in fallout 2 i have the highwayman and it ran out of energy, i have both Microfusion cells and small energy cells but theres no option to recharge the car
 
If you right click on the car, you should be able to click the "back pack" icon to "use" any item from your inventory on the car. Using the cells in this manner should fill up your battery.
