How does burst work?

Question

First time out of the vault
How does burst work?Is damage calculated for each bullet in the burst as well as accuracy? Why is that critters standing in certain hexes, near walls or with dead bodies inbetween the player and said critter will often cause said critter to take nearly non-existent damage from bursts?

15-25 damage per shell from a HK-CAWS.A burst fires 5 shells, which is 75-125 damage per burst, before damage modifiers.Yet,standing behind big jesus,i do a grand total of......20-30 damage. This is like 1.5x the damage of a normal shot.Bursting with same weapon on critters wearing leather armor, for example the khans,in certain situations, will cause them to take non-existent damage as well...10-15 per burst.Even pointblank bursts sometimes produce no effect.

What gives?

Funny, I don't recall Big Jesus or The Khans in FOT.

So is this a question about Fo2's burst fire, how the bugged burst in FOT should theoretically work, or how it works in reality?

Those are three distinctly different topics, please be a bit more descriptive and precise.

More likely than not a wrong posting.....
Well, as for the burst weapons IIRC it will be easier to dodge at point blank than at one or two hexes away.....
Atleast that Is the PNP rules we play with, but I might remember it wrong, been some time....

What about armor?

You know when you look at your armor class and stuff when you check your inventory it's got a bunch of percentages and stuff beside like "Normal" and "fire" and "Plasma" and so on.

If your armor ratings are like this

4/40%

It means that 4 points of damage, or more, have to be dealt in order for the player to take any damage at all. If the attacker hits for 3 hit points, you take 0 damage.

The 40% means that out of the attackers total damage roll, 60% of that damage will be absorbed by you and the remainder would be absorbed by your armor.

SO! If a player fires a burst of 4 shots with the H&K CAWS at you and rolls a 16,21,20,and 15 for damage (a total of 72) and your armor has a 40% damage reduction value for Normal, then you only take 43 damage.

I hope this makes sense.
