Since the last thread got deleted and I honestly don't know how. People were saying how to add weapons in game through the lst file and weapon frm, a mapper, an editor, and last I recall a proto file to add in ammunition. If there's any other tips to add in here please feel free to tell me. Like adding weapon inventory and interface icon images? The weapons I plan on adding

Here's the link for Cubik's editor, in case you didn't get it from the last thread. http://newfmc.pl/Cubik_Fallout_Download/download_f2wedit.php This will work in doing what you need to do. I've used it for the same purpose. Are you making those FRMs or just want to use what's around? There are a bunch in various mods and weapons mods on the download section and in the Fallout Database that's a sticky in this forum. The Titanium FRM browser http://www.nma-fallout.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1369 is a good tool to use to look at them and see what's what.

I want to make the FRMs so I'm not recycling old weapon stats. All that's left is the mapper and the thing for proto files. To which magnus said is for ammunition. Can you help me with that too?

You can do the protos with the editor, but you'll need the mapper to add your stuff to the shop inventories or on some random book shelf. You can add it to the NPCs in random encounters, by editing the world map file, though. I did that to see if adding an extra item would work with the editor and it did. It's just the NPC that you gave it to is the only one that has it, unless you do the mapper thing.

Unfortunately, I've never been able to get the mapper to work, because of some weird issue with it telling me I don't have the US version of what ever that is you need for it to go. That was strange because I live in the US and as far as I know the game was bought here and it's not an import. I didn't buy it but it was given to me a long time ago.

Oh weird. Do you have a link to the mapper? I haven't been able to find one. I wanna see if it does the same thing with me. Also, what about icon/inventory images for the weapons and ammunition? Do I need a tool for that too?

The mapper should be with these links. http://www.nma-fallout.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=59 The images go into the art/inventory folder, but you edit their stats with the editor. You can also change the images that are already there by just renaming the new one you want to use. For example, if you want to change the pic of the 10mm pistol into a pic of a Beretta, you just name the Beretta FRM to pistol.FRM and that's what you'll see. Then you can edit it further with the editor by changing the description and other stats of you want. That's what I've done for years. I no longer have any of the original artwork/weapons that came with the game. I've used all kind of other stuff that I've cannibalized from ever mod that had different FRMs available. I can't make my own (I wish I could, because there are some things I'd like to do,) but I don't have Photoshop.

So you had trouble making entirely new FRMs from scratch? Does that mean I will too?

Ammunition
"-7.62x39mm Soviet" is a.k.a 7.62x39 WP or 7.62x39 warsaw pact ammo
-7.62x54R --- this is already in game afaik fn-fal uses it along with some big guns there's also 7.62 caseless for hk G11 but that's not even based on guncotton it's without a shell as name says it's basically a bullet dipped in tnt

FN FAL uses 7.62x51 NATO. Also CPL. Will I have to start a new game when I mod the weapons for them to actually be there?

I don't have Photoshop, that's why I couldn't. If there was something else that could be used, that would be good to know as well. I've read you needed that program to make FRMs from an actual photo of the item. If not, then hopefully someone here could correct that, because I'd like to know, too. If you have Photoshop or some other comparable program, then you shouldn't have an issue, I believe.

I don't think you do, from what I can remember. You should be able to keep playing, or you might have to refresh the map you're on by going to another one and come back or whatever for it to show up. I'm not 100% sure, since it's been a long time since I've messed with that, but I don't remember the game crashing because of that sort of thing. What I'll do to test something is make an extra save and load that to try something and it works. That way, if something screws up, then at least you can go back. That and make back ups of back ups. I learned that the hard way a long time ago. I lost a lot of Fallout related files when I backed up on a DVD disc when I reformatted my laptop and the DVD disc was corrupted for some reason. Luckily, I had a disc from 2013, but I had to search the Fallout Database to find what I didn't have and that took a while. :facepalm: Now, I use an USB stick, which I should have in the get go.

Alright CPL. Two more things I think I'll be ready to go. What about animations and gun sounds? I want the Winchester 70 and Dragunuv SVD to have the same animation as the hunting rifle, you know in RP 2.3.3 where it has a bolt action animation? And contain the same sound makeup. How would I do that? And if I get my mod working would you like to try it to see if it works? And then if there's problems I could go back and do some bug fixing or glitch issues. And FRMs can be made from photoshop? Hmmmm it might could work that but could only work for the image/inventory icon, for the other details I might have to make a copy of a weapon frm and modify it to fit the suits of a certain weapon. And add in a new proto file for the ammunition like .30 Carbine.

Oh yeah just so you know I got most of the mapper configured out. It's just that it's having an issue initializing video mode 640x800. Do you know how to fix this?

You can change those in the editor to what ever animation the game has and the sounds. There's options there to select those.

I don't know anything about the mapper, I couldn't get the damned thing to even load because of some weird issue. You'd have to ask one of the modders around here like Endocore (who actually posted somewhere on how to get the mapper to work, which would have for me, sans that issue) or whoever else is around these days. They know about that way more than I do.

You need two patches in order for the mapper to work. F49+ and High Resolution. Install those. Also set Librarian and Run mapper as game to 0 in mapper.cfg. Copy your fallout2 critter.dat, master.dat and data folder (but NOT the fallout2.exe) to C:\Black Isle\Fallout2. Set the following paths in the mapper.cfg:
critter_dat=C:\Black Isle\Fallout2\critter.dat
critter_patches=C:\Black Isle\Fallout2\data
master_dat=C:\Black Isle\Fallout2\master.dat
master_patches=C:\Black Isle\Fallout2\data

As for the animations for the bolt:
In the RP, only the player character has the custom sniper rifle animations. This means, any character who wields a sniper rifle must have the player sprite (the FRM names start with HM and HF - hero male, hero female). If you give this rifle to any NPC who uses another sprite (say, Ms. or Mrs. Buckner), they will not use it, and if you equip them with it in the mapper the game will CRASH. The reason why you see it in the RP is that the thugs who wield Sniper Rifles (mobsters around New Reno) do have the player sprite. There is also a thug outside Vault 15 who has one, but he will not use it because of the aforementioned problem.

Do you think that you could make a video walkthrough or a visual one to guide me through the process? Including adding the FRM image to the pro file in F2edit? btw I don't see 00000597 in the Items folder and I made 00000597 in the lst file I opened with notebook.
