John Nowak
First time out of the vault
Steps to install:
1. Download the Deep Impact Mac mod. Make sure you get the Mac version with the Data folder.
2. Ignore all instructions that come with it!
3. Copy (and overwrite!) the DATA folder into ~/Libaray/Application Support/Fallout/ (where ~ is your user folder).
4. Modify permissions of proto and all enclosing items to be "read only". This step is critical!
5. Copy (and overwrite!) patch000.DAT into ../Fallout.app/Contents/Resources/GameData/ (use Show Package Contents to get inside the application).
6. Launch Fallout, and then quit. Go back to ~/Libaray/Application Support/Fallout/Data. Check inside proto/critters and proto/items. If these folders are empty, you did not set the "read only" business properly. Try again. Be sure to click "Apply to enclosed items..." in the Info window. If they are full of items, you're all set.
Easy!

EDIT: It should be noted that after doing this, most other PC mods that use a single patch000.dat file should work flawlessly. Just swap the patch000.dat files and leave the rest. Enjoy!
EDIT2:Er... actually, this doesn't work. You can't save the game then. Hm.
Fuck.
EDIT3: Okay, I got it.
ONLY make proto/items read only.
LEAVE proto/creatures read/write.
Actually, the read me says this.
Ugh.
Idiot.
