How to save Arroyo

First time out of the vault
I have been playing this game for ever...and to be honest...I never beat the game or saved Arroyo. I get so caught up trying to save the world..by the time I get to Reno & NCR..Arroyo is destroyed. I have never been able to make the tanker move...or obtained a Holy Geck...

What is the best way to save Arroyo so that I can focus on the bigger stuff.

That's the thing see....
I've been playing fallout 2 for ten years now...but I use/used the ancient Gamefaqs walkthroughs...
It was said back then that you couldnt save Arroyo...

But before I registered to this site.
I recently have been reading as many threads as possible.
And I believe someone mentioning there is a way to save Arroyo through the various Vault missions..???

Also...being I was using the ancient...."get the navarro power armour" as it used to be the norm in 98...
I noticed I risk getting a "hanukin(mispelled)" warning by the time I return to finish up where I left off?

So am I risking my tribe to save the world?
I could have neat the game ten years ago without saving my tribe?
I believe I read that in PER's walkthrough,,there where a few endings where you could save Arroyo???

Thank you everybody for finally putting this to rest for me. I have been playing this game for so long..restarting everytime I do not save arroyo but can beat the game??

So "in short"..
Saving arroyo is possible but only through cheating.
 
In the plotline of the game, you do not save Arroyo. You haven't lost the game; it's just an event that has to occur. This will be a bit clearer when you get to the end of the game.

Don't worry, you can't save Arroyo, but you can recue them. And soon, thanks to the New Arroyo mod, you'll be able to visit a great place. Here's the thread about it=> HERE
