Next up in our famous and popular Fallout Developers Profile is none other than Jeff 'Huggies' Husges, who worked on Fallout 3/Van Buren as a Content Designer. Here's a snibblet:
Tell us a little about your role in the making of Fallout 1/2/3 (Van Buren) ?

Fallout 1 and 2 were before my time at Interplay, but those two were one of the reasons I looked to Interplay for employment in the first place.

As for Fallout 3, I was a content designer – NPCs, areas, dialogs, quests, etc. I was also the team rookie, which meant I spent a lot of time nodding my head and pretending to know what the hell the other guys were talking about.
Yet another good profile to read..

I would also have very much liked to have been able to arm towns like Shady Sands with all the extra weapons and armor I collected, especially after cleaning out The Glow. It seemed like such a waste to sell off all that stuff. It’s not like I needed the caps at that point in the game. It would have been cool to be able to put all the low-level crap you eventually ended up with to good use instead of burdening some poor shopkeeper in The Hub with 10,000 sets of leather armor and assault rifles.

Hah, I always dreamed of doing stuff like that too. But man, if the world would evolve and change with your actions to the extent that could entail... that would def be some crazy stuff (and an insane programming task as well).

I have no idea how much it would take to code such a thing, but yeah, it would be major awesome to feel that sort of impact on the game world.. If just the act of selling certain items certain places were felt.

Think about it, you sell a bunch of high end gear to Mom in The Den, what effect would that have? Or selling lots of doctor's bags to the people in Gecko?

We know what happened to Shady Sands (NCR) so equipping them seems redundant, but what about Junktown? I set of power armor sold to Gizmo? :)

Just thinkin' out loud.....

I have no idea how long it would take either. But it seems like what fable is trying to do and that games been in development for about 6 million years now. So I figure that could be a good reference to its difficulty :).

Nice work, Odin. All in all, this is a quality feature.

How about getting those Fallout music mp3s uploaded though, eh? ;)

Guess you haven't checked, they're on our file server. I just haven't added them into the files database yet..

I have checked them, but I balked at the monster queueing times - 30-odd minutes waiting time for each tune! As much as I love 'em, I've got better things to do! ;)

Am I wrong in assuming that there wouldn't be any wait if they were added to the file database?

EDIT: Failing that, is there any way I can rig Getright so's I can leave it to negotiate the waiting times, etc.?

At the other end of the spectrum, there’s fun little activities like blowing up Hoover Dam and unleashing a tidal wave of toxic, radioactive water, wiping out whole towns and permanently altering the game world’s landscape.

Might this be an ultra-beta-leak-sneak preview of one of the possible endings in FO3?

Hmmm...

Erm the files in the database is the same as the ones on the 3ddownloads, ie it only links to the 3ddownload server.. so yes you are wrong..
